The Indwelling Spirit

This message affirms the profound reality that the Holy Spirit permanently resides within every Christian. The Indwelling Spirit is our guarantee of resurrection life (Romans 8:1-11) and, crucially, establishes us—both individually and as a community—as the Temple of God (1 Corinthians 3:16). Because our bodies are bought with a price and are the Spirit's sanctuary (1 Corinthians 6:14-20), we are called to a life of radical consecration and holiness. The Spirit's dwelling compels us to separate from ungodly influences and to cleanse ourselves "from every defilement of body and spirit" (2 Corinthians 6:14-7:1), bringing our holiness to completion.
