TEDS offers a world-class seminary education with a variety of degree options meant to prepare you for carrying out God’s redemptive work in the world. We strive to offer a generous scholarship and financial aid program.

TEDS Scholarships

In order to be considered for the following scholarships and grants, complete and submit our Scholarship Application. Please note, some scholarships and grants have additional eligibility requirements. For more details see table below.

Kaiser, Meyer, & Norton PhD Scholarships Full Tuition 3 Yes January 15th(Fall only)
These full-tuition scholarships are awarded to incoming PhD students selected from all concentrations who exhibit the greatest academic and leadership potential. Recipients are selected by the PhD and Admissions committees on merit demonstrated through application materials. Award amount is approximately $15,000 per year (renewable for a second year) and will cover all tuition and fees incurred during coursework.
MLK50 Memphis Scholarship Full Tuition 3 Yes January 15th(Fall only)
To honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., this scholarship will be awarded to new Master of Divinity students who have an incoming GPA of 3.5 or higher and who have demonstrated academic excellence, ministerial service, and potential for leadership. The new Dream Forward Scholarship Initiative seeks to partner Christian colleges and seminaries to invest in the educational future of minority students. The centerpiece of this effort is the creation of new pathways to a quality higher education through an array of full and partial tuition scholarships at participating Christian colleges and universities around the country, reserved exclusively for underrepresented students from Memphis. The goal is to equip these students to return to their home communities to strengthen them in some way, for example, by returning to the Mid-South to make a difference for a local church, ministry, or non-profit.
PhD Program Scholarship UP TO$11,500 3 Yes(up to 2 years) January 15th(Fall only)
The PhD Program Scholarship is awarded to one recipient per PhD program (Theological Studies, Educational Studies, and Intercultural Studies), selected by the PhD Faculty and Admissions committees. Award amount is $11,500 for the year (renewable for second year) and is awarded based on full-time credits (9 or more) and will be pro-rated if registered for less than 9 credits in a semester.
Carl F. H. Henry Scholarship UP TO$7,500 15 Yes Rolling
This scholarship is available to master’s-level students who have an incoming GPA of 3.75 or higher and display potential to make a significant contribution in the evangelical community. Students must maintain a 3.5 GPA and enroll in at least 10 residential hours each semester while at Trinity.
Ruud Scholarship $5,000 20 Yes(up to 3 years) Rolling
This scholarship is available to master’s-level students who have an incoming GPA of 3.5 or higher and display strategic leadership potential. Students must maintain a 3.25 GPA and enroll in at least 10 residential hours each semester while at Trinity. It is renewable for up to 3 years and cannot be combined with any other institutional scholarships.
PhD Merit Scholarship $5,000 6 Yes(up to 2 years) January 15(Fall only)
The PhD Merit Scholarships are awarded by the PhD and Admissions committees for the Educational Studies and Intercultural Studies departments, and for the four Theological Studies departments (including Old Testament, New Testament, Systematic Theology, and Church History). Award amount is $5,000 for the year (renewable for second year) and is awarded based on full-time credits (9 or more) and will be pro-rated if registered for less than 9 credits in a semester.
Chaplaincy Scholarship $4,500 Unlimited Yes Rolling
Students must be approved as a Chaplain Candidate in the Armed Services or National Guard and accepted into the MDiv program at TEDS. Students must provide a signed statement from the recruiter/commissioned officer certifying that the student is a chaplain candidate, including date the candidate was commissioned. This scholarship cannot be combined with any other Trinity Scholarships.

Eligibility for this scholarship is based on a 3.2 minimum GPA from the transcript of the most recently completed degree (new students) or upon review of TIU cumulative GPA after completion of at least 20 credits (returning students). For master’s-level students.
Helga Henry Scholarship UP TO$2,500 30 Yes Rolling
This award will be granted to outstanding master’s-level women who desire to pursue a theological or graduate education. New students are recommended by the Admissions staff based on exceptional leadership potential.
Global Impact Scholarship UP TO$2,000 Unlimited Yes Rolling
These scholarships will be awarded to master’s-level students with evidence of outstanding leadership potential in the evangelical community. New students are recommended by the Admissions staff based on previous leadership experience.
Leadership Scholarship UP TO$2,000 Unlimited Yes May 1st
This scholarship is available to international master’s-level students who have demonstrated a commitment to serve in crucial locations, organizations, or roles that will impact the global church. New students are recommended by the Admissions staff based on previous leadership experience.
Waybright Multicultural Development Scholarship UP TO$2,000 Unlimited Yes Rolling
This scholarship is awarded to U.S. citizens or Permanent Residents who represent multicultural backgrounds or cross-cultural experiences that will contribute to TIU’s core value of Community.
Diversity Grant UP TO$1,000 Unlimited Yes Rolling
This grant celebrates ethnic diversity at Trinity by awarding up $1,000 to students of underrepresented racial and ethnic minority populations enrolled in any master’s degree program. Student must be a U.S. citizen.
Evangelical Free Church Grant UP TO$1,000 Unlimited Yes Rolling
Trinity highly values the partnerships we share with the Evangelical Free Church of America. This grant is awarded up $1,000 to students who are members and regular attendees of an Evangelical Free Church.
Campus Visit Grant $500 Unlimited No Rolling
Students who visit campus or attend an event through the Admissions Office are automatically eligible for this grant. This grant is awarded upon first-time enrollment in a graduate-level program at the Deerfield campus. First semester enrollment must be full-time in order to receive the $500 grant; part-time enrollment must be between 5-9 credit hours in order to receive the $250 grant. All students (MA, PhD, DMin) are eligible.
Deposit Match Grant $125 Unlimited No June 1 (Fall)
November 1 (Spring)
The Deposit Match Grant applies only to full-time students in Master’s-level degree-seeking programs at the Deerfield campus who allow their deposit to be reclassified as non-refundable. First semester enrollment must be full-time in order to be eligible. Deposits are valid only for the original academic year submitted, and must be re-submitted if students postpone enrollment. To be eligible make sure to select deposit match on Notice of Intention.
Chan Scholarship Varies Varies Yes April 15
This award is provided to a full-time Chinese or Chinese/American student preparing to minister to the Asian community either in the U.S. or abroad. This award is not automatically renewable, but the current recipients are eligible to reapply. In order to be eligible two letters of recommendation must be submitted: one letter from a pastor and the other from a TEDS faculty member. Please have your pastor and faculty member send their letters directly to the Financial Aid Office or email a pdf version to [email protected]
Christopher Yahn Scholarhip Varies 1 Yes April 15
The scholarship is available to one male student enrolled full-time in the MDiv program who is committed to entering the pastorate or serving on the mission field. Write a half-page to one-page essay describing how a trial in your life has caused you to have greater devotion to God’s service and email to [email protected]

The PhD Professional Papers are one-time awards given at various points in the academic year.

In order to help equip servant leaders who are committed to the Gospel ministry of multi-racial and multi-ethnic reconciliation, Trinity offers a 50% tuition scholarship to 15 first-year students from various ethnic backgrounds (Deerfield campus). Scholarship recipients experience spiritual formation and leadership development through the Mosaic cohort experience and the Mosaic Gathering. We provide opportunities for like-minded mentor-to-peer and peer-to-peer relationships. PhD Robert D. Orr Endowed Fellowship UP TO$10,000 1 YesMAX 4 YEARS January 15th(Fall only)
Full-time PhD students (excluding current TEDS Department Fellows, Program Scholars, Waybright Scholars, or Hansen Fellows) who are committed to exploring the implications of biblical and theological perspectives for engaging medicine and technology. It is not expected that Orr Fellowship recipients will direct any of their doctoral studies or dissertation toward the study of bioethics; rather, this fellowship provides an opportunity to supplement the recipient’s doctoral experience with an additional subspecialization. This scholarship supports full-time PhD students (excluding TEDS department fellows and program scholars) whose vocational interests and academic research match the vision and mission of the Henry Center for Theological Understanding. This scholarship is designed for students with a demonstrable financial need who are willing to engage in a mentoring relationship with a 222 Foundation mentor. Grants are available to men who are pastoral students and both men and women studying for all other vocational ministries. APPLY NOW >>
EFCA Church Planting Scholarship $5,000 1Per EFCA District Yes Prior to Matriculation
In order to qualify, program applicants must meet all admissions requirements to the TEDS MDiv degree program and be nominated through a letter of recommendation by their district of the EFCA prior to matriculation. Church Match Grant UP TO$2,000 Unlimited Yes First Day of Student's First Semester
This award is granted to students whose church donates funds towards their Trinity education. Trinity will match donations each academic year.

Masters and PhD Students – Trinity will match up to $1,000 for contributions given by any church; up to $2,000 for contributions given by Evangelical Free Churches; or up to $2,000 for Trinity alumni per academic year

Doctor of Ministry Students – Trinity will match up to $250 for all contributions given by Evangelical Free Churches; up to $150 for Trinity Alumni; or up to $100 for all other applicants per seminar.

Summer Campus Ministries Rebate UP TO50% Varied Yes Summer Term
Full or part time (minimum of 20 hours/week) staff members of a campus ministry, such as Navigators or other campus ministries, may be eligible for a special 50% tuition reduction plan. This rebate is not applicable toward students enrolled in any of our Extension Site programs. DOWNLOAD FORM >>
Credit Hour Spouse Rebate UP TO50% Unlimited Yes Rolling
The spouse of a master’s student is eligible for a reduction or waiver of course fees for as long as the first student is enrolled full-time. Students already receiving tuition rebates or grants from the institution are ineligible. DOWNLOAD FORM >>
Audit Hour Spouse Rebate Free Unlimited Yes Rolling
The spouse of a TEDS/TGS student may audit free of charge the same number of hours that the student takes for credit in a given semester. This benefit/rebate will not be applied retroactively. It will be granted only during the semester in which a student is enrolled in classes. DOWNLOAD FORM >>

Rent Free Housing

RENT FREE HOUSING FOR FIRST-YEAR MDIV STUDENTS: Living on campus plays a huge part in your academic journey as well as in your faith. We value the importance of residing on campus which is why we strive to make it affordable for everyone. TEDS provides rent-free housing for the first year for select Master of Divinity students.
