The Paul G. Hiebert Center for World Christianity and Global Theology is happy to announce the successful completion of the first two-year learning journey (2022-23) of the Thriving Immigrant Congregations Initiative (TICI). Since the spring of 2022, eleven immigrant churches (Chinese, Korean, and Nigerian) participated in a collaborative learning journey to accomplish the following two goals: (1) to form a healthy partnership between first- and second-generation members, and (2) to become more effective in reaching out to surrounding communities beyond their ethnic boundaries. In October 2023, TICI teams from these churches gathered on our campus to share what they have learned and how they have grown through this journey experience. Here’s a brief video from this event and a collection of their reports and reflections.

The first TICI learning journey was facilitated by the TICI project leadership team consisting of Dr. Peter Cha, Rev. Joshua Joseph, Ms. Angelica Barahona, and Ms. Sarah Chang, and the TICI resource team consisting of Dr. Tite Tiénou, Dr. Peter Lee, Dr. Deborah Colwill, Dr. Zachs Gaiya, Rev. Paul Kim, Rev. John Cha, Mr. Daniel Hartman, Mr. Joshua Lee, Rev. Desmond Teo, and Mr. Alan Lee.
