Trinity has a big role to play in the global evangelical scene.

InterVarsity and TEDS

TEDS and InterVarsity have a long history of partnership. Below are some comments from InterVarsity staffers who are TEDS alums or current TEDS students.

I served on InterVarsity staff both before and after completing the M Div program at Trinity. In particular, the strong courses in biblical studies and introductions to systematic theology and church history deepened my grasp of Scripture and helped me develop and hone other skills while broadening my overall perspective. All of this equipped me to do greater justice to Scripture and grapple with contemporary issues in my subsequent staff-work (with grad students and serving as a theological consultant).

Since returning for doctoral work in 2002, I've found Trinity as passionately committed to biblical authority and missional societal engagement as always, and re-embracing its original vision to exemplify "mere Christianity" (unity in the essentials of the faith; breadth and charity in secondary theological matters). The caliber of Trinity's academic programs, always very high, has been enhanced by recent initiatives giving more attention to formation (spiritual and otherwise). Also, thanks to intentional commitments and actions by administration and faculty, and a diverse student body representative of the global church, I find Trinity today a respectful environment for women and people of color. I believe that InterVarsity staff, women and men, would benefit personally and professionally from investing in a theological education at Trinity, and that their presence and contributions would enrich the Trinity community as well.

We have been actively involved as campus staff with InterVarsity Christian Fellowship and have a strong passion for ministering to young adults. Both of our programs of study have really empowered us by giving us the proper “tools” to encourage and effectively minister to tomorrow’s leaders while they are in college. Trinity has challenged us to live with intention and to actively ask sharper questions in order to engage our faith and culture.

In my work as Director of Collegiate Ministries, I am continually thankful for my studies at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. My courses in Bible, Systematic Theology, and Practical Ministry have given me the foundation I have needed to tackle the issues of "day" in our ministry with students and faculty. One of the highlights of my studies at Trinity was the eagerness of the faculty to explore issues of theology and biblical interpretation from all perspectives within the boundaries of an evangelical commitment on core issues.

JIM LUNDGREN, MDiv
Director of Collegiate Ministry, IVCF

My experience as a female MDiv student at TEDS was absolutely phenomenal. The Lord definitely worked powerfully through my experiences in the classroom, in field educations (for example, with InterVarsity at Northwestern and the South Asian Friendship Center), and with my peers on campus to edify my faith and train me further for ministry and life. Through my training at TEDS I gained excellent tools for studying and teaching God's Word, for living and guiding others to live missionally, and for being a biblically thoughtful follower of Christ. As a woman, I was thankful for ongoing advocates on faculty (including professors and administration) and staff. I cannot imagine moving forward in life-long ministry without this invaluable training, and I want to continue to be a good steward of the gifts and education God has granted me. I LOVE TEDS and LOVED my experience there.
