Dr. Skjoldal has served at TIU-Florida since 1994 and was the founding director of its MA in Mental Health Counseling program, which has grown to become the flagship program at Trinity Florida. "Dr. Skjoldal has made an immeasurable contribution to Trinity Florida over her 28 years of leadership, teaching and mentoring," said Provost Wayne Johnson. "She is beloved by students, alumni and faculty colleagues alike for the rich counseling experience she brings to the classroom and her deep care for students. Through many challenging years she has faithfully led the MA in Mental Health Counseling to what it is today. Though it is sad to see Dr. Skjoldal go, we pray God's blessings on her next chapter of ministry." Skjoldal has worked to ensure the continuity of the program by leaving it in the capable hands of Marsha Wilson, LMHC, who will step in as director of the MA in Mental Health Counseling program and clinical professor of Mental Health Counseling. Having been mentored by Skjoldal in previous years, Ms. Wilson will be stepping in after teaching as an adjunct clinical professor at TIU-Florida since 2015; she has also been the coordinator of internship sites for the MA in Mental Health Counseling program for more than eight years. "Our program has produced quality licensed mental health professionals for several years and we want to clear the way for new graduates to continue doing the same—serving the underserved and impacting culture and community for years to come.” Provost Johnson added that he is "delighted Ms. Wilson is stepping in to give ongoing leadership to this important program." As an alumna of Trinity with a master’s degree in Counseling Psychology, Wilson knows firsthand the quality of Christian education and faith integration taught at TIU-Florida, and she is committed to sustaining it. She has also been the clinical supervisor of the Smith Community Mental Health Center in Plantation, Fla., since 2020, where she is responsible for the training and supervision of the agency’s 15+ therapists. She is pursuing a PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision at Walden University Ms. Wilson is married to Thomas Wilson, also a Trinity alumnus, and they have four adult children. She will be joining TIU-Florida full-time on June 1, 2022.
