The Paul G. Hiebert Center for World Christianity and Global Theology has announced the successful completion of the selection process for the first cohort of the
Thriving Immigrant Congregations Initiative. The center received applications from many congregations that primarily serve Chinese, Korean, and Nigerian immigrant communities in the Midwest and the East Coast regions of the U.S.
Here, in alphabetical order, is the list of the twelve immigrant congregations selected:

Binnerri Church (Richardson, TX)
Chinese Christian Church of New Jersey (Parsippany, NJ)
Chinese Christian Fellowship Church (Wilmette, IL)
Cornerstone Chinese Church (Villa Park, IL)
Evangelical Church Winning All (Chicago, IL)
Evangelical Church Winning All (District Heights, MD)
Hebron Presbyterian Church (Prospect Heights, IL)
Korean American Presbyterian Church of Queens (Flushing, NY)
Lakeview Covenant Church (Northbrook, IL)
Monmouth Community Christian Church (Middletown, NJ)
Trinity Grace Church (Highland Park, IL)
In the coming two years, these twelve congregations will participate in a collaborative learning journey to accomplish the following two goals: (1) to form a healthy partnership between first- and second-generation members, and (2) to become more effective in reaching out to surrounding communities beyond their ethnic boundaries.
The TICI learning journey will be facilitated by the TICI leadership team consisting of
Peter Cha, Jay Catanus, Angelica Barahona, and Sarah Chang, and by the consultant team consisting of
Tite Tiénou,
Deborah Colwill, Zachs Gaiya, Paul Kim, and John Cha.
