Trinity 2021 Faculty Promotions

Trinity College and Graduate School congratulate Drs. Joshua Held and Chrystal Ho Pao on their promotion in rank. Dr. Held was also awarded tenure. Trinity Evangelical Divinity is pleased to announce that Dr. Dana Harris has been promoted from associate professor of New Testament to full professor.   Dr. Dana Harris has been promoted to Professor of New Testament. Her current research interests include the Epistle to the Hebrews; the Book of Revelation; Greek grammar and syntax; linguistics; hermeneutics; biblical theology; Second Temple Literature (particularly apocalyptic literature); archaeology; and historical backgrounds of the New Testament. She most recently published an introduction to Greek grammar (Zondervan Academic), as well as the volume on Hebrews in the Exegetical Guide to the Greek New Testaments series (B&H Academic). Harris earned her bachelor's from Stanford University before coming to TEDS for her MA and then PhD. She has taught extensively at retreats, conferences, and adult Sunday school classes, and also teaches Bible and theology classes in various overseas contexts.   Dr. Joshua Held has been promoted to Associate Professor of English and has been awarded tenure. Held first came to Trinity College as an undergraduate student. He completed his BA with double majors in English and English Secondary Education and graduated from the honors program. Following his graduation, he pursued his MA and PhD at Indiana University. As a scholar, his emphasis is the Renaissance period, specifically the intersection of literature and religion in Renaissance English.  One of his current projects is a monograph, Revising Shakespeare’s Folio: Tragedy from Titus to Lear. Dr. Held also serves as the Director of the Honors Program.   Dr. Chrystal Ho Pao is now Professor of Biology. Her PhD from Harvard University is in genetics, and her research has included population genetics studies on the invasive weed, Bromus tectorum, and an endangered rare evening primrose, Oenothera harringtonii at the Chicago Botanic Garden.  She and colleagues in the biological sciences have worked alongside students to do research, and their research article, “Inquiry-Driven Bioinformatics Laboratory Research Module: Metagenomic Study of Student Oral Microbes,” was recently accepted for publication in the Journal of Microbiology and Biology Education. Dr. Ho Pao teaches a range of biology courses including human anatomy and physiology and genetics.
