Trinity is proud of its long-standing tradition of keeping hard working, dedicated employees who have a heart for the mission and a love for serving this community. Today, we must wish one such employee well as she begins a new chapter in her life, while thanking God for her twenty-five wonderful years of service to the President’s Office, the Board of Regents, and to the Trinity community as a whole.
Jean Myers has officially announced her resignation for the purpose of retirement. On August 12, 2022, Jean will depart our beautiful campus to begin her new life in Summerville, Kentucky, with her husband Don, who is already retired. Jean shared that in March, their daughter had purchased a large home in Summerville, with the intention of it becoming their retirement home.
Jean leaves us with a history of serving as President Nicholas Perrin’s executive assistant, having completed her twenty-fifth year at Trinity International University. She began working in the Provost's Office, and served with Provost and Executive Vice President Barry J. Beitzel, then with Provost and Executive Vice President Jeanette Hsieh. This last post occurred during a time of transition, when Hsieh also wore the hat of interim president for eighteen months. In addition, Jean was also present to assist in supporting Interim President Neil Nyberg for a short time. With the arrival of President David S. Dockery in 2014, Jean moved into her current role of Executive Assistant to the President. In 2019, with the arrival of current president Nicholas Perrin, Jean was there to assist and work as Executive Assistant to the President.
Jean has always held her thoughts of Trinity and her service here in high regard.
“My time at Trinity has been rewarding, often challenging, and never boring!" she said. "Parting with Trinity is truly bittersweet, and I am grateful for these years of service in Christian Higher Education.”
She notes that she is particularly grateful for the many deep and lasting friendships forged over these decades, and will miss being in close proximity to everyone. Though her last day is expected to be August 12, Jean is poised and ready to help train the new executive assistant in any way possible to avoid disruptions to the work of the Office of the President. With grandchildren living in Illinois and Wisconsin, there will be many times that Jean and Don will find themselves back in the area to visit.
"And, of course," Jean was quick to add, “our Kentucky home is already set to welcome visitors!”
