Professor Blizzard currently serves as Managing Partner and Attorney at Blizzard & Zimmerman, overseeing a medium-sized firm with a focus on criminal trial and appeal practice areas. With CEO responsibilities, he leads a team of attorneys dedicated to providing top-tier legal representation to clients in serious criminal matters. Prior to his current role, Professor Blizzard held key positions at Parker & Blizzard P.L.L.C. and The Blizzard Law Firm.

Professor Jacob Blizzard, based in Abilene, Texas, holds dual board certifications in both Criminal Law and Criminal Appellate Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. His specialization encompasses criminal defense, criminal appeals, and habeas corpus. Professor Blizzard stands out as one of only 87 lawyers in Texas certified in both Criminal Law and Criminal Appellate Law. He brings practical experience to the table, having represented individuals in state and federal criminal cases since 2010, achieving rare wins in United States federal court and capital murder cases. Other notable recognitions include the National Trial Lawyers Top 40 Under 40 award and earning the Super Lawyers 2020-2024 Rising Star designation for Criminal Defense and Appellate.

Academic Journey:
Professor Blizzard earned his Doctor of Jurisprudence, cum laude, from Texas Tech University School of Law in 2010 and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science/Economics from the University of Houston in 2007. In law school, Professor Blizzard served as the Articles Editor for the Administrative Law Journal, and regularly competed in mock trial and moot court competitions.

Legal Admittance:
Admitted to the Supreme Court of Texas and the United States District Courts for the Northern and Western Districts of Texas, the United States Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court.

Community Engagement:
Beyond his legal career, Professor Blizzard is actively engaged in the community. Professor Blizzard is a member of Lytle South Baptist Church, where he has served as a member of the worship team. He serves as a board member and secretary for West Texas Veteran Support Services, is a member and past president of Big Country Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, member of Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, and member of the Abilene Bar Association.

Personal Life and Christian Faith:
In his personal life, Professor Blizzard's faith plays a significant role. Prior to becoming an attorney, Professor Blizzard believed he would enter the ministry as a pastor. He served as a youth pastor and then ultimately decided his ministry needed to be taken into the legal profession where he advocates for justice, compassion, and mercy just as Christ gives to us. He draws on his principles to guide his legal practice and teaching philosophy. His commitment to teaching and advocacy is not just professional but rooted in his Christian values.

Beyond his legal pursuits, Professor Blizzard is a married man for 20 years to Tiffany, a real estate professional, equestrian, and home school mom. They are parents to three wonderful children, Kaleb (18), Claire (16), and Natalie(12). Kaleb will be attending Texas A&M University in the Fall of 2024. In his leisure time, Professor Blizzard enjoys playing guitar, traveling, and boating.
