Following graduation from Cornell, John Kinyon was an assistant manager in the corporate tax department at Citibank, N.A.’s corporate office located on Wall Street, NYC. Later studies in business law at New York University as well as warmer weather prompted him to move south to attend law school at Vanderbilt.

While in law school, John was an oralist on the Jessup International Moot Court team, an international law research assistant for Professor Igor Kavass, a member of the Vanderbilt Board of Governors and Moot Court Boards, as well as a legal writing advisor to 1L’s. He also served as a legal assistant for the Freeman Company which, at the time, was one of the largest real estate development companies in the Southeast.

John has practiced law in Georgia and Florida, with a specialization in transactional law at one firm (e.g. real estate, corporate, patents/trademarks and banking law) as well as defense litigation in all kinds of tort and business matters at another firm.

Later, he attended seminary and became an ordained minister in the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA). In addition to serving the denomination by teaching seminars and workshops on various legal topics relevant to churches and other non-profit entities (e.g. corporate, administrative, insurance, and litigation matters), Professor Kinyon and his wife have planted three very different churches across the nation, with the goal of planting five more in 10 years.

John is also an adjunct faculty member at several seminaries, mostly abroad in countries hostile to the gospel. He has been married to Claire, an artist and art teacher, for almost 37 years and together they are blessed with five sons, all of whom love the Lord, and are involved in various artistic and educational endeavors themselves. Living in Pinehurst, NC, John loves playing golf and enjoys the warmth and slower pace of life in the South.
