ADJUNCT PROFESSOR
Professor Judith Kott has been a licensed attorney for over 20 years, barred in both Illinois and the Northern District of Illinois. She received her Juris Doctorate from the University of Illinois Chicago School of Law, her Master of Arts degree in political science from Illinois State University, and her Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from Monterey Institute of International Studies. Throughout her legal career, Ms. Kott has advocated for clients in the areas of commercial litigation, constitutional law, personal injury, employment law, zoning and building litigation, and estate litigation. As a litigator for many years, she has experience in handling jury trials, pretrial settlement conferences, mediations and arbitrations, depositions, discovery, hearings, court coverage, and drafting legal briefs, motions, and pleadings. One of the highlights of her experience as a litigator was being appointed class counsel and assisting in the representation of former public-school students resulting in a class action settlement in a First Amendment constitutional law case, as well as settlements in two related cases. Prior to becoming an attorney, Ms. Kott served as an adjunct instructor at several community colleges and taught state and local government classes, history classes, and a constitution class.
Ms. Kott has also served as a volunteer in different capacities over the years. For approximately seven years she has been the organizer of a Meet-up group that has participated in serving events such as providing cards of hope for Phil’s Friends (an organization committed to providing support for individuals battling cancer), organizing a Freedom Walk for Destiny Rescue (an organization committed to battling sex trafficking), and packing meals for Feed My Starving Children. This Meet-up group also provides activities, including organizing an annual picnic. Professor Judith Kott teaches Contracts I and II and a Remedies class at Trinity Law School.
