Prior to becoming an attorney, Judith Kott received her bachelor’s degree in political science from Monterey Institute of International Studies in Monterey, California (now Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey). Subsequently, she received her master’s degree in political science from Illinois State University, and then served as an adjunct instructor at several community colleges and taught state and local government classes, history classes, and a Constitution class. Her background also includes litigation paralegal work before attending law school at the John Marshall Law School (now University of Illinois Chicago School of Law). During law school, Judith gained practical experience at the Fair Housing Legal Clinic. Additionally, Judith received a mediation certificate after completion of a 40-hour mediation/arbitration class with the Illinois State Bar Association.

Judith’s experience as a litigation attorney for 20 years has included advocating for clients in the areas of personal injury, commercial litigation, foreclosure defense, probate, adoption, and transactional work. As a personal injury litigator, Judith handled pretrial settlement conferences, arbitrations, jury trials, drafted briefs, motions, and pleadings, supervised attorneys with discovery and other matters, participated in consistent court coverage, handled depositions, and settled cases. More recently, Judith has been active as a litigator in federal court in cases involving former high school students’ claims of constitutional violations in a public high school. As a senior litigation associate at Mauck & Baker, LLC, Judith has represented clients in federal court by advocating for clients in pretrial settlement conferences, handling depositions, handling discovery, and drafting motions advocating for the clients’ religious liberties. She also has handled oral arguments and drafted briefs and motions in commercial litigation cases. Judith Kott teaches Contracts at Trinity Law School.
