ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR
DIRECTOR OF CENTER FOR HUMAN RIGHTS
Andrew R. DeLoach received his B.A. in Literature from the University of California, San Diego. He earned his J.D. from California Western School of Law in San Diego. Professor DeLoach attended the International Academy of Apologetics, Evangelism & Human Rights in Strasbourg, France, and is a Fellow of the Academy. Most recently, he was the 2023 Visiting Scholar at the Georgetown Center for the Constitution in Washington, D.C.
His research focuses on constitutional law and history, philosophy of law, and human rights. He has published articles in a variety of scholarly and popular media, and co-authored a book chapter titled “Myth and Resurrection,” in The Resurrection Fact: Responding to Modern Critics (2016). Professor DeLoach recently finished an article on Antigone and Higher Law. He is currently working on a book chapter comparing the treatment of religious freedom in the U.S. Supreme Court and European Court of Human Rights, and an article on Hate Speech.
Professor DeLoach teaches Constitutional Law; International Human Rights; Public International Law; Foundations of Law; and a Recent Books on the Law seminar. He is also Director and Professor of the summer International Human Rights program in The Hague, Netherlands, and Strasbourg, France.
He and his wife, Katherine, have three children. They attend Holy Trinity Lutheran Church.
