was a Teaching Fellow in New Testament during his studies at TEDS before he transitioned to Master’s Program Coordinator in the TEDS Dean’s office. As the first Director of the TEDS Undergraduate Teaching Department, he has been central to the development of the new Bible and Ministry major and courses for the University.
His research interests focus on the Gospel of Luke, the parables of Jesus, authority and politics in the ancient world, political theology, and the kingdom of God. He is currently working on a monograph on the art of hearing and preaching the parables of Jesus.
Prior to his doctoral studies, Dr. Bryan served on a church planting team in Madrid, Spain, with Mission to the World. He is ordained in the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA) and actively involved in Chicago Metro Presbytery. He and his wife, Beth, live in Deerfield, Illinois, and have three children. He enjoys soccer, basketball, surfing, and playing games with his family.
Dr. Bryan is the co-editor of Ascent Into Heaven in Luke–Acts (Fortress, 2016) and has published articles in Novum Testamentum and Catholic Biblical Quarterly. His dissertation on Luke’s narration of authority and the domains of authority ascribed to Jesus is being revised for publication.
