INTRODUCE THE WORLD OF SCIENCE TO MIDDLE SCHOOLERS. Science teachers are in high demand, especially at the middle school level. Our Middle Grades Science Education degree will equip you with a fundamental understanding of the world around you, the ability to think in a critical and scientific way, and the skills to pass on this knowledge to students in grades 5-8.
Knowledge of anatomy, molecular structure, and classroom management is of little value without the opportunity to put it into action. During your time here at Trinity, you will have the chance to engage in classroom observation, lesson planning, and student teaching at local middle schools.
Most Middle Grades Science Education majors finish their degrees in 4 years. This degree is a great option for transfer students, as it can be completed in two years after your transfer to Trinity. Major requirements total 71 hours. This includes 44 hours of required Professional Education Courses and 27 hours of other required courses.
You can earn an Illinois Professional Educator License through this program, which allows you to teach at the middle grades level (grades 5-8).
The Middle Grades Science Education major will prepare you with the knowledge, skills, and direction to teach middle level (grades 5 – 8) students, and to model Christian values in your personal and professional life. The professional education courses offered will provide the academic foundation necessary to make you successful in the classroom.
