TRINITY ONLINE FINANCIAL AID

We believe there is great value in the education you will receive at Trinity, and so we work hard to make it affordable. We can help provide you with a little extra money to make college work for your family. In addition to Trinity scholarships, we can help you find outside scholarships and grants.

At Trinity nearly 95% of our students receive some form of financial aid. We offer scholarships, grants, rebates, and other aid options to help pay for the cost of schooling. Learn more about what is available below or by contacting the Financial Aid Office at [email protected].

ENSURE THE BEST FINANCIAL PACKAGE BY

  1. Completing The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) - School Code: 001772
    • October 1st is the earliest date to submit the FAFSA and must be submitted no later than April 1st. If you have questions about completing the FAFSA you can contact our student financial services team any time at [email protected] with any questions you may have.
  2. Review and Return Your Award Letter
    • You may acept or reject any portion of the financial aid offer by circling (A) for accept or (R) for reject. Please return your award letter stating your intention to out office within 30 days of receipt.
  3. Complete a Direct Master Promissory Note
    • If this is the first time you are requesting a Direct Loan while at Trinity, you will need to complete a Master Promissory Note.
  4. Complete Direct/Perkins Loan Entrance Counseling
    • Before a Direct or Perkins loan can be applied to your student account, federal regulations require that you complete entrance counseling online through Direct and Perkins processes. Entrance Counseling provides information about how to manage your student loans both during and after college.

GRANTS

Grants are a form of financial aid that do not need to be repaid. Students pursuing a degree in one of our online programs may be eligible to receive federal or state grants.

FEDERAL PELL GRANT

This is a need-based grant used to pay for tuition, fees, room, board, and living expenses. You can apply for this grant by submitting the Free Application for Student Aid (FAFSA). The maximum amount of this award is $5,730.

CHURCH MATCH GRANT

This grant is available to both graduate and undergraduate students. If your church donates funds toward your education Trinity will match that donation up to $1,000 for each academic year. Applications and checks must be received before the first day of classes. Simply fill out the application and send it in.

TEACH GRANT

Through the College Cost Reduction and Access Act of 2007, Congress created the Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education (TEACH) Grant Program that provides grants of up to $4,000 per year to students who intend to teach in a public or private elementary or secondary school that serves students from low-income families. STATE OF ILLINOIS MONETARY AWARD PROGRAM (MAP)

Through the College Cost Reduction and Access Act of 2007, Congress created the Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education (TEACH) Grant Program that provides grants of up to $4,000 per year to students who intend to teach in a public or private elementary or secondary school that serves students from low-income families. GRANTS AND SCHOLARSHIPS

By submitting the following application, you will automatically be considered for all of the following scholarships.

RUUD SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship is available to master’s-level students who have an incoming GPA of 3.5 or higher and display strategic leadership potential. Students must maintain a 3.25 GPA and enroll in at least 10 residential hours each semester while at Trinity.

DEAN'S SCHOLARSHIP

Eligibility for this scholarship is based on a 3.2 minimum GPA from the transcript of the most recently completed degree (new students) or upon review of TIU cumulative GPA after completion of at least 20 credits (returning students). For master’s-level students.

HELGA HENRY SCHOLARSHIP

This award will be granted to outstanding master’s-level women who desire to pursue a theological or graduate education. New students are recommended by the Admissions staff based on exceptional leadership potential.

GLOBAL IMPACT SCHOLARSHIP

These scholarships will be awarded to master’s-level students with evidence of outstanding leadership potential in the evangelical community. New students are recommended by the Admissions staff based on previous leadership experience.

LEADERSHIP SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship available to international master’s level student who have demonstrated a commitment to serve in crucial location, organizations, or roles that will impact the global church. Apply before May 1st.

WAYBRIGHT INTERNATIONAL STUDENT GRANT

This award is available for returning master’s-level international students within an eligible program, full-time or half-time. Contact the International Student and Scholars Office during the first year of enrollment to apply.

WAYBRIGHT MULTICULTURAL DEVELOPMENT SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship is awarded to U.S. citizen or Permanent Resident master’s-level students who represent multicultural backgrounds or cross-cultural experiences that will contribute to TIU’s core value of Community.

CARL F. H. HENRY SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship is available to master’s-level students who have an incoming GPA of 3.75 or higher and display potential to make a significant contribution in the evangelical community. Students must maintain a 3.5 GPA and enroll in at least 10 residential hours each semester while at Trinity.

EFCA CHURCH PLANTING SCHOLARSHIP

In order to qualify, program applicants must meet all admissions requirements to the TEDS MDiv degree program and be nominated through a letter of recommendation by their district of the EFCA prior to matriculation. REBATES

YOUNG LIFE REBATE

Students serving full-time with Young Life are eligible for a discounted tuition rate on master’s-level courses taken at the Deerfield Campus site and/or Online (DE). This rebate is not applicable toward students enrolled in any of our Extension Site programs.

CREDIT HOUR SPOUSE REBATE

The spouse of a master’s student is eligible for a reduction or waiver of course fees for as long as the first student is enrolled full-time. Students already receiving tuition rebates or grants from the institution are ineligible.

Students serving full-time with CRU are eligible for a discounted tuition rate on master’s-level courses taken at the Deerfield Campus site and/or Online (DE). This rebate is not applicable toward students enrolled in any of our Extension Site programs.

INTERVARSITY CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP REBATE

Students serving full-time with InterVarsity are eligible for a discounted tuition rate on master’s-level courses taken at the Deerfield Campus site and/or Online (DE). This rebate is not applicable toward students enrolled in any of our Extension Site programs.

Tuition Costs Financial Aid Loans Military Benefits Other Resources

Federal financial aid is available for all Trinity students through the Direct Unsubsidized Loan ($20,500/year, 4.3%) and the Direct PLUS Loan for Graduates (amount varies, 5.3%). The average financial aid package is $28,500 per year and can be used to cover the cost of tuition, fees, and some living expenses. Contact the admissions office for more information about financial aid and the application process.

SCHOLARSHIPS - JD PROGRAM

Applicants who meet the requirements for admission to the regular JD program are automatically considered for merit and non-merit based scholarships based on the information provided throughout the admissions process. Most scholarships are renewable as long as specific academic requirements are maintained each semester. Contact Admissions at 714-796-7100 to learn more about specific scholarship requirements.

MERIT-BASED SCHOLARSHIPS

Merit scholarships are based primarily on your LSAT score (145+) and academic background. Awards vary from $2,000 to full-tuition with the possibility of stipend.

DEANS' FULL TUITION + STIPEND

  • 100% Tuition Cost + $500-$1500/yr Monthly Stipend.
  • LSAT in the 60th Percentile or Higher (155-180)

DEANS' FULL TUITION

  • 100% Tuition Cost ($31,650)
  • LSAT in the 60th Percentile or Higher (152-154)

DEANS'

  • 50-75% of Tuition Cost ($15,825-$23,737)
  • LSAT in the 40th Percentile or Higher (149-151)

JUSTICE

  • Scholarship of $5,000-$7,500
  • LSAT in the 33rd Percentile or Higher (147-148)

LEGAL STUDIES

  • Scholarship of $2,000-$5,000
  • LSAT in the 26th Percentile or Higher (145-146)

NON-MERIT SCHOLARSHIPS

Applicants who meet the requirements for admission to the regular JD program are automatically considered for scholarships based on the information provided throughout the admissions process. Non-merit scholarships are offered for those who have graduated from a Christian college (institution must be a member of NACCAP to qualify), are members of an EFCA church, who are coming to law school with only an AA/AS degree, or who have a history of public service.

The Mephibosheth Scholarship provides special assistance for individuals who have a physical or sensory impairment that is likely to continue indefinitely.

If your church donates funds towards your education, Trinity will match the donations each academic year through the Church Match Scholarship.

SCHOLARSHIPS - MLS PROGRAM

Master of Legal Studies students who demonstrate a deep understanding of the advantages that an MLS can provide in their respective fields are automatically considered for scholarships ranging from 20%-50% of tuition (up to $4,500-$11,250) over the course of the entire degree program. Scholarships are renewable as long as specific academic criteria are met each semester. Please contact the MLS admissions office at 800-922-4748 to learn more.

DEAN'S SCHOLARSHIP

LEGAL STUDIES SCHOLARSHIP

  • Covers 20% of Tuition
  • 2.5-2.9 Undergrad Scholarship

TLS GRADS

  • 50% TLS Grad

NON-TLS GRADS

  • 35% Non-TLS Grad
*Scholarships cannot be combined. Students will be awarded the highest scholarship for which they qualify.
