CURRICULUM

The Certificate of Theological Studies is 21 credit hours which consists of 3 hours of Biblical Studies, 3 hours of Theological Studies, and 15 hours of Electives. An admissions counselor will help you customize a unique program of courses to fit your interests.

why complete a certificate program?

The Certificate in Theological Studies is intended for people involved in lay and parachurch ministry and leadership who feel the need to strengthen their skills and knowledge base in a specific area of study or across the theological curriculum. Students who pursue, and have completed the Certificate in Theological Studies may wish to continue their studies and apply to the MA (Theological Studies) program. Any course work completed under the Certificate in Theological Studies is applicable to the MA/TS program as well.

Admission Requirements

Applicants to the Certificate in Theological Studies must fulfill the following requirements:
  • Applicants should possess a bachelor’s degree (or the educational equivalent) from a recognized, accredited institution.
  • Undergraduate grade point average of 2.0 or greater on a 4.0 scale. GRE or MAT scores may be required for those whose GPA falls below 2.0

Craig Ott, PhD

Dr. Ott occupies the ReachGlobal Chair of Mission at TEDS, which was established to link the mission agency and seminary, integrating mission theory and practice. His particular fields of expertise include theology of mission, contextualization, church planting, and teaching across cultures.
He has planted churches in Schaumburg, Illinois, and in Munich, Ingolstadt, Neumarkt, and Markt Indersdorf, Germany. From 1995 to 2002 Dr. Ott served as Central Europe Church Planting Consultant for ReachGlobal, and from 1998 to 2002 he taught at the Akademie für Weltmission in Korntal, Germany, where he continues to teach regularly as an adjunct professor.
