TIU Alumna Invention Protects Medical Workers

Dr. Melissa Erickson is an orthopedic spine surgeon with Duke Health and a student in Fuqua’s Weekend Executive MBA program. Combining her medical background with her Fuqua studies motivated Erickson to create a modified surgical suit and helmet to protect health care professionals tasked with treating COVID-19 patients.

For 25 years, The Center for Bioethics & Human Dignity (CBHD) has borne witness to the enduring strength and ongoing need for a decidedly Christian bioethics, and, according to Executive Director Paige Comstock Cunningham, “we aim to do so well into the future with a comprehensive strategy poised to meet the rapid changes in biomedicine and biotechnology head-on.”

In light of this perennial need, during its 25th annual conference, CBHD unveiled BioethicsNEXT, a strategic initiative with the express intent to “equip a new generation of thought leaders in the church and the academy.” [Read More]
