After serving Trinity International University for the last 9 years, Lisa Weathers will be moving with her husband Steven and family to join the staff of Warner University in Lake Wales, Florida. In August, Lisa will begin a new position as the director of the Academic Skills Center working as a liaison with faculty to specifically help students with disabilities receive the accommodations needed for their success. Her last day at Trinity will be July 31. Her husband, Steven (formerly director of multicultural ministry of the EFCA), will assume the role of dean of students at Warner, reporting to Anne Tohme, VP of Student Life.
Since 2011, Lisa has served in numerous roles on campus; administrative assistant to the Chaplain, executive assistant to the SVP of advancement and executive assistant to the President. In addition to her work, Lisa was also an adjunct professor for nonprofit management, taught Zumba classes on campus and was an instructor for Service Learning credits. She mentored students for the Compass program, participated in spiritual formation in Athletics and co-led the Racial Reconciliation Team with Peter Cha. Last summer, Lisa moved to help support VP for Enrollment and Retention Services Shawn Wynne where she currently holds the position of director of retention and completion.
"While Lisa has many strengths, she has an extraordinary of hospitality," Wynne said. "Being in her presence it is easy to see her passion for making sure that everyone is treated with the utmost care. Her unique gifting in this area afforded her quick success in connecting with students when she transitioned to her current role last December. Her ease and gentle presence provided a safe space for students to share their stories so that together she could assist them in developing a plan for successful completion of their Trinity degree."
Given Lisa’s service in so many areas of the Trinity community, there are many who will be sad to say farewell to the Weathers. The Trinity community is grateful, however, for the excellent way that she faithfully served the institution, faculty, staff and students for so many years. The current Covid situation makes for a challenge in connecting personally, but please join in as you can over the next few weeks to bless Lisa and Steven as they embark on the next stage of their journey.
