Dr. Elizabeth Skjoldal started at the Trinity International University-Florida in 1994. Prior to assuming her position at the Florida Campus, Dr. Skjoldal served as supervising psychologist at the University of Miami Medical Pain and Rehabilitation Center and at the Department of Behavioral Medical Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla, California.
Dr Skjoldal’s research interest includes Multi-cultural counseling specifically, cultural humility and the provision of counseling to underserved populations. Her areas of clinical interest include behavioral medicine specifically psychological treatment of Cancer patients and the provision of counseling in both English and Spanish to the elderly. She was the founding Director of the Masters of Arts in Mental Health in Counseling with the first graduating class in 2000. She has lectured at a number of professional societies, including The Southern Pain Society and The American Pain Society and Miami Cancer Institute. Dr Skjoldal often speaks to women’s, youth and parenting groups. She is a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors and the American Psychological Association.
In addition to directing and teaching in the master’s program of Trinity Graduate School in Florida, Dr. Skjoldal has been asked by community stakeholders to develop Counseling Centers at Christ Fellowship Church and Baptist Health South Florida Care and Counseling Center. As a licensed psychologist since 1993 (Florida PY4936) she has a private practice where she provides sees clients and provides supervision for Registered Mental Health Interns in (in both English and Spanish) Dr. Skjoldal is married to Dr. Neil Skjoldal, the Director of Pastoral Care at Baptist hospital West Kendall, and also teaches at Trinity International University and has 2 daughters.
