Prior to coming to Trinity, Dr. Johnson taught as a visiting assistant professor of Sociology at Carthage College. Before that, he served 12 years at Judson University in a one-person department. Other stays included Bethel College (Mishawaka, IN), William Jewell College (Liberty, MO), the University of Central Missouri, and Central College (Pella, IA).
Most class times with Dr. Johnson are very interactive with students discussing course ideas and sharing insights from
class assignments. Major course interests cover Race and Ethnicity, Social Problems. Advocacy and Social Justice, and Older Adults in Society.
Dr. Johnson’s research interests focus on the volunteering of older adults and its impact on the civil society. Papers are regularly given at the Midwest Sociological Society meetings.
