Prior to coming to Trinity, Dr. Stevenson was Associate Professor and Director of the Middlebury College School Abroad in Chile. Before that, he taught undergraduate Spanish and graduate linguistics courses in the MATESOL program as faculty instructor at Seattle Pacific University in Seattle.
While in Seattle he also conducted research on child second language acquisition in dual language programs. He has extensive international university teaching experience, primarily in Chile and Japan.
His current research interests relate to the development of intercultural competence during Christian study abroad as well as theological education in majority world contexts undergoing processes of secularization.
He is the founder and president of Proyecto Nehemías, a non-profit ministry created to produce Spanish-language materials for theological education and whole-life discipleship. Dr. Stevenson particularly enjoys ESL language teacher training and mentoring students interested in cross-cultural ministry as educators, whether in the U.S. or abroad.
