Dr. Akanet grew up in a small town called Zonkwa in Kaduna State, Nigeria. He served as a faculty member of the Education department of Jos ECWA Theological Seminary (JETS) in Nigeria. In addition, he served as an interim youth pastor at his home church, ECWA Seminary Church, Jos, Nigeria. Prior to that, he had served as a volunteer Bible teacher at ECWA Secondary School, Jos, as well as a part-time teacher at ECWA Bible College, Tofa, Kano State, Nigeria.
Dr. Akanet recently (May 2021) graduated from TEDS with a PhD in Educational Studies and currently serves as a Post-doctoral Fellow for the TEDS Educational Ministries/Educational Studies department and TIU’s Student Life department. In addition to research, teaching, and mentoring students, he brings his passion for leadership development and student participation to the Student Life team at Trinity by overseeing the Student Engagement and Leadership Office. He also volunteers with the youth ministry of his local church, Crosslife EFC, Libertyville, Illinois.
