본 목회학 박사과정은 북미의 신학교육인증기관인 ATS의 승인 하에 전 수업을 한국의 협력기관이자 트리니티의 연장 교육사이트인 (재)기독교선교횃불재단에서 실행해 오고 있습니다. 한국의 목회자들과 기독교사역자들이 사역지를 떠나거나 미국으로 유학하지 않고 한국에서의 수업만으로 미국 트리니티 복음주의신학대학원에서 수여하는 동일한 목회학 박사 (Doctor of Ministry) 학위를 취득하는 것이 가능합니다. 따라서 본 과정은 초창기부터 지금까지 대부분의 대면수업을 한국에서 진행해 왔습니다.

A Doctor of Ministry degree is the highest degree in professional ministry in Christianity. Today, graduates of Trinity’s Doctor of Ministry program serve as skillful and passionate pastors, missionaries, and ministry leaders dedicated to serving the Lord and his church all over the world.
The Korean Doctor of Ministry program has joined in, training Korean church leaders worldwide. The Trinity Korean Doctor of Ministry program endeavors to educate ministers who deliver the unchanging truth of the gospel with wisdom and purity, despite the many challenges facing the church amidst the post-Christian and post-denomination situations, as well as rapid changes in society and culture.
This Doctor of Ministry program is conducted in Korea by the Korea-based corporation, Christian Mission Torch Foundation, a cooperating agency of Trinity’s extension education site, under the approval of ATS, a theological education accreditation agency in North America. Korean pastors and Christian ministers can obtain the same Doctor of Ministry degree from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in the United States without leaving their ministry or studying abroad. Thus, this program has mostly been conducted face-to-face in Korea from its early stages to this day. The goal is to train missional leaders who study deep scripture and sound theology in their ministry fields, are responsive to the world’s trends and spiritual needs, rescue lost souls, and lead the Lord’s church wisely and humbly. The program aims to serve not only the Korean church but also the global diaspora Korean church, and eventually to help them serve the global church.

Newly renovated doctoral program in theology for the years 2021-22
트리니티 한국 목회학 박사과정은 2021-22학년도를 맞아 새롭게 개편됩니다. 새로운 3단계 교과과정은 강의실, 개별적 지도연구, 실천적 사역역량 계발을 통합하는 실질적이고 유연하며 특수화된 전문 박사과정이며, 통전적 복음의 관점으로 상황화를 고려한 필드사역과 연구를 강조합니다. 특별히 사역지를 떠나지 않고도 3-4년 내에 파트 타임 학업으로 임팩트 있는 학업과 사역연구를 마치고 졸업할 수 있다는 장점이 있습니다.
모든 수업은 대면과 비대면 형식, 그리고, 두가지를 배합한 하이브리드 형식으로 진행됩니다. 북미신학교협회 (ATS)로부터 본 학위과정 전체의 제공이 가능한 연장 교육사이트 (Full degree extension site)로 승인 받은 한국의 (재)기독교선교횃불재단과의 협력으로 한국에서 대다수의 대면수업을 진행하고 있습니다. 또한 비대면 실시간 온라인 수업들이 정기적으로 개설되어 한국과 여러 타국가, 타지역에 거주하고 있는 사역자들이 학업을 진행하고 있습니다.
The Trinity Korea Doctor of Ministry program will undergo a new revision starting in the 2021-22 academic year. The new three-tiered curriculum combines classroom instruction, individual mentorship, and practical ministry development into a specialized, flexible, and practical doctoral program with consideration for situational ministry and research from a holistic gospel perspective. Particularly advantageous is the ability to graduate with impactful academic and ministry research within three to four years of part-time study without leaving the ministry location.
All classes will be offered in face-to-face, virtual, and hybrid formats. With the approval of the Association of Theological Schools (ATS), the program has been granted full-degree extension site status in cooperation with the Korea (Re)Christian Mission Torch Foundation, which offers most of the face-to-face classes in Korea. In addition, regularly scheduled virtual online classes are open to ministers residing in Korea as well as other countries and regions.

- 목회학 석사 학위 (MDiv) 또는 동등한 석사학위 (MA) 자격 (아래 추가정보 참고)
- 석사학위 성적 최소 3.0 (4.0 만점 기준). 기본성적이 미달인 경우 추가 사항 요구됨.
- 목회학 석사학위 취득 후 전임 사역 경험 3년 이상. 목회학 석사학위 취득 전 사역 경험이 있는 지원자는 이 조건의 면제 또는 감소. (일반적으로 목회학 석사학위 취득 전의 사역경험 3년을 학위 취득 후의 사역 경험 1년으로 환산.)
- 추천서 4부: 1) 지원자의 사역 관리자 또는 책임자 (보통은 담임목사), 2) 동료 사역자, 3) 성도 중 교회지도자 (장로, 권사, 집사 등), 4) 당회장 (1번에 담임목사가 아닌 사람이 추천서를 쓴 경우), 신학교 교수, 교단 관계자, 또는 전문인 지인.
- 본 과정은 온라인 수업 및 과제물 작성에 있어서 컴퓨터 작업이 매우 중요하므로, 지원자는 문서 작업 프로그램과 Zoom 등의 앱을 사용할 수 있어야 함. 개인 컴퓨터 또는 노트북이 요구되며, 인터넷 접속과 이메일이 가능해야 함.
- Master of Divinity degree (MDiv) or equivalent master’s degree (MA) qualification (see additional information below).
- Minimum 3.0 GPA on the master’s degree (out of 4.0). Additional requirements may be demanded for those whose basic grades are inadequate.
- Three or more years of full-time ministry experience after obtaining a Master of Divinity degree. Those who have ministry experience prior to obtaining a Master of Divinity degree are exempt from or reduced from this requirement. (Generally, pre-Master of Divinity degree ministry experience is equivalent to one year of post-degree ministry experience.)
- Four letters of recommendation: 1) Applicant’s ministry supervisor or executive (usually the senior pastor), 2) Colleague in ministry, 3) Church leader among believers (elders, deacons, etc.), 4) Session member (if someone other than the Senior Pastor wrote the recommendation letter), theological professor, denominational official, or friend who is a professional.
- As this course requires online classes and assignments, computer proficiency is very important. Applicants must be able to use word processing programs and apps such as Zoom. A personal computer or laptop is required, and internet access and email are required.

- 목회학 석사 학위 (MDiv) 소지자가 아닌 경우, 이 요구사항을 대체하기 위해 트리니티 신학대학원의 목회학 석사 과정과 유사한 최소 74학점 (1년 2학기제, Semester )의 석사 수준의 신학 학위가 필요합니다.
- 여기에는 구약 12학점, 신약 12학점, 조직신학 12학점, 교회사 3학점, 선택과목 35학점이 포함됩니다.
- 조건에 부합하지 못하는 지원자는 학점 부족을 가지고도 조건적 학점 비충족 입학허가 (Admission with deficiency)를 받을 수 있으며 학위 과정 중 필요한 석사 과정 수업은 한국의 횃불 트리니티 신학대학원, 또는 본과정이 승인하는 신학대학원 중에서 수료하여 조건을 충족할 수 있습니다.
- 이를 위해 해당 신학대학원이 요구하는 모든 입학 및 등록 절차를 밟아야 합니다.
- 모든 비충족 학점들은 목회학 박사과정의 12학점을 취득하기 전에 충족되어야 합니다.
- 목회학 석사학위 취득 전에 전임 사역 경험이 있는 지원자들은 취득 이전 전임사역 경험 3년을 취득 이후 사역 경험 1년으로 환산해서 사역경험 조건이 충족될 경우 입학허가를 받을 수 있습니다.
- If you do not have a Master of Divinity degree (MDiv), you must obtain a minimum of 74 credits at the graduate level in theology that are similar to the pastoral theology program at TEDS in order to fulfill this requirement. This is equivalent to one year and two semesters of coursework. The coursework includes 12 credits in the Old Testament, 12 credits in the New Testament, 12 credits in systematic theology, 3 credits in church history, and 35 credits in elective courses.
- If a candidate does not meet these requirements, they may be admitted with a deficiency, and the required master’s courses may be completed at a theological seminary approved by the program or at Torch Trinity Graduate School of Theology in Korea. The candidate must follow all admission and registration procedures required by the theological seminary.
- All deficient credits must be completed before obtaining a Ph.D. in Pastoral Theology.
- Applicants with prior pastoral experience before earning a Master of Divinity degree can substitute three years of experience for one year of post-degree experience and can be admitted if they meet the experience requirement after obtaining the degree.

한국 목회학박사 과정은 모든 수업을 한국 기준으로 진행합니다. 수업 방식은 며칠에 걸친 집중 수업, 또는 몇주간 월요일 하루 동안 수업하는 방식이 있으며, 현재까지 모든 대면 수업은 한국 (재)기독교횃불재단에서 실행하거나 한국 시간에 맞추어 실시간 온라인 수업으로 진행되어 왔습니다. 이 과정은 미국 트리니티 캠퍼스에 거주하면서 학업 하는 과정이 아닙니다. 본 과정의 재학생 중 미국의 트리니티 캠퍼스에 잠시 방문하여 영어 DMin 과정의 수업을 수강하거나, 본교 캠퍼스에서 한국어로 진행하는 목회학 박사과정 수업이 개설될 경우, 미국 캠퍼스에서 수업에 참여하고자 하는 분들은 미국 연방 이민국 (U. S. Citizenship and Immigration Services)에서 규정한 F-1 학생 비자의 조건을 충족해야만 합니다. 이를 위해 추가적인 서류 제출이 필요하며 미리 비자를 취득한 경우에만 이러한 수업을 수강하는 것이 가능합니다.
참고로 트리니티의 미국 (영어) 목회학 박사 과정에 재학 중인 국제 유학생들은 예외 없이 F-1 비자로 미국에 입국하고 있으며, 모든 F-1 비자의 조건을 따르고 있습니다. 수업을 단 한 과목 수강하러 미국에 오는 경우에도 반드시F-1비자를 취득해야 합니다. F-1 비자 취득 없이 미국에 방문하면 수강하려던 수업에 참여할 수 없거나 미국 입국에 제한이 생길 수도 있습니다. F-1 비자는 5개월에 최소 1회 미국에 입국하면 유지될 수 있습니다. 이 기간을 넘기면 새로운 F-1 비자를 취득해야 합니다.
The Doctor of Ministry program in Korea is taught according to Korean standards, with classes offered in intensive formats that span several days, or on a once-a-week basis for several weeks. All face-to-face classes to date have been conducted in Korea by the Christian Torchbearer Foundation, or have been delivered in real-time through online classes that are held according to Korean time. The program does not involve living on the Trinity campus in the United States while pursuing studies. If students in the program wish to attend an English DMin course at the Trinity campus in the US or a doctoral program in ministry conducted in Korean at the main campus, they must meet the conditions for an F-1 student visa as stipulated by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services. This requires additional documentation, and only those who have already obtained a visa are eligible to attend these courses.
Note that all international students currently enrolled in Trinity’s (English) Doctor of Ministry program in the US hold F-1 visas and meet all the conditions attached to this visa. Even if you are coming to the US to take only one course, you must obtain an F-1 visa. Failure to obtain this visa may prevent you from attending your chosen course, or may result in restrictions on entering the US. An F-1 visa can be maintained by making at least one entry into the US every five months. If this period is exceeded, a new F-1 visa must be obtained.
