Most Humanities majors complete their degree in 3-4 years. Requirements total 60 hours. Up to 20 hours required in the major may be used to meet general education requirements.
You’ll have the opportunity to participate in co-curricular activities on campus such as the school newspaper, student government, or intramural sports to hone your skills and engage with those who are in other programs. All of this contributes to building community with students interested in similar professions.
The Humanities major is designed to provide a comprehensive foundation in the areas of art, English, foreign languages, philosophy, and music. This major is a good choice if you want to pursue graduate programs in an area of the humanities or a career in law, theology, government work, research, creative writing, or library work.
Requirements total 60 hours. Up to 20 hours required in the major may be used to meet general education requirements. The following courses are excluded: ENG 214, 241X, 242X, 243X, 441X, 442X, MU 214, applied music, and music organizations. The Humanities Major will not be granted as a third major in conjunction with a combination of two of the following majors: English, History, Music, Philosophy. In addition, courses applied toward the Humanities Major may not be used to count toward any minors. You’ll take interesting courses like:
