Nonprofit OrganizationPurpose: Cultivate and nurture relationships between Love INC and volunteers (servants) to mobilize the local church to service. Recruit, assimilate, and empower volunteers (servants) from local churches to serve, lead, and address community needs. This role will allow you to love God and love your neighbor, while using your gifts to have a transformational impact in the lives of individuals in Lake County.
Reports to: Executive Director
Schedule: 40 hours/week with occasional weekends and evenings, one remote day if desired. Will consider a 32 hour, four-day week for the right candidate.
Compensation: $38,000 – $52,000 dependent on experience. PTO and holiday pay.

Responsibilities: Lead the recruitment, placement and on-boarding, on-going training, and retention of servants from our partner churches to meet current and future needs within the ministry, including: 1. In coordination with fellow staff, maintain a deep knowledge of current and future servant needs. 2. Build relationships with servants and make them feel known. Understand and document their interests and connections in the community so that you, and all Love INC leadership, can become familiar with them and help them to achieve their goals as servants. 3. Ensure servants are equipped for their roles, including: a. Create and maintain development tools, such as clear servant job descriptions and servant handbook. Review regularly and ensure servant policies remain current. b. Ensure adequate training and onboarding for new servants, including tools to both support and reduce the need for, direct staff training. c. Ensure servant retention by (1) identifying and providing ongoing support as servants grow deeper in their role; or (2) guiding servants into different roles that may fit their God-given talents and time better. 4. Identify and put in place servants who can fill leadership roles within the ministry, with appropriate staff oversight. 5. Organize and (co-)lead monthly servant orientations. Identify gifts and passion fits for new servants. Follow-up with both those attending orientations and no-shows to ensure connection into the ministry. 6. Initiate and lead servant recognition and appreciation opportunities, with support of staff. 7. Enhance our understanding of servants’ satisfaction and ways in which to strengthen overall servant management, utilizing appropriate tools and approaches (e.g. surveys, exit interviews, etc.). 8. Ensure accurate reporting of servant hours, including leading tracking across the ministry. Train and oversee servants who are inputting servant hours. 9. Along with the Executive Director, staff, and board, represent Love INC to churches through attendance at church events and other speaking engagements, as needed. 10. Attend staff, board, and/or committee meetings, as requested.
Qualifications 1. Personal relationship with Jesus Christ and agreement with the Apostles Creed. 2. Regular attendance at a Christian church (preferably in Lake County, IL). 3. Recognized as a servant leader, with a passion to help educate, equip, and empower churches to serve in unity to transform lives and our community. 4. Practice discernment and possess a non-judgmental attitude. Have the ability to listen to, empathize with and love others. 5. Strong interpersonal skills, friendly, warm and encouraging personality with the desire to ensure servants feel appreciated. Past proven success as a relationship builder. 6. Excellent verbal and written skills. Ability to actively listen and articulate the mission, vision and needs of the community and ministry. 7. Detail oriented and ability to organize and manage service projects. Ability to work independently and cooperatively, often with multiple priorities and deadlines. 8. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite programs. 9. Preferred – leadership and presentation experience. 10. Preferred – minimum of one-year experience in servant/volunteer management. 11. English/Spanish bi-lingual is a plus.
