Baptist (SBC)First Baptist Church in Richmond Hill, Georgia is seeking an exemplary Student Pastor who will provide visionary oversight, and pastoral leadership, to the students of our community and congregation. The Student Pastor will partner with parents and student leaders in discipling our students, consistently engage with students with the good news of the gospel and support them in developing their love for Him and others. The overall objective of the Student Pastor is to connect with our youth, provide guidance and support as they grow, and educate them on how to apply God’s word to their own lives, as well as discipleship in order to connect people to Jesus for God’s glory. To be successful in this position, the Student Pastor will be present in the lives of our youth in their various contexts. He or she will work to provide a place, and build relationships, where students can feel safe, loved, and a sense belonging. The mission of FBC Richmond Hill is to glorify God by connecting people to Jesus. Our mission statement defines how we are to go about accomplishing our vision. We desire to be a church that brings God glory through discipleship and community outreach. We aim to serve Him both locally, through our family, friends, neighbors and co-workers, and globally, through our missions program, to reach those around the world with the good news of the gospel. Once people accept Jesus as Savior and Lord, we desire to connect them into a community where they can grow in their relationship and commitment to Him.
Responsibilities: Provide spiritual guidance and mentorship to students in the community. Lead and facilitate student group meetings, Bible studies, and other spiritual activities. Plan and organize events and activities for our students, such as retreats, camps, and community service projects. Develop relationships with parents and families of students to provide support and resources. Offer Christian counseling and support to students facing personal challenges or crises. Assist in crisis management and intervention for students in need. Collaborate with other church staff members to coordinate student programs and initiatives. Foster a safe and inclusive environment for all student participants. Developing and implementing a comprehensive Student Ministry program that meets the spiritual needs of our students. Providing leadership and guidance to student volunteers and leaders. Teaching and preaching the Word of God in a way that is engaging and relevant to young people. Building relationships with parents and families to create a supportive and cohesive community. Build relationships with students by being an active presence in local high schools (as allowed) with periodic visits engage students at school. Creating a fun and welcoming environment that encourages students to grow in their relationship with Christ and with one another. Assist the Pastor in making the Student Ministry a vital function of the overall church, not just a silo for students.
Qualifications: Strong understanding of Christian teachings and principles. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to connect with and relate to students from diverse backgrounds. Empathy and compassion for individuals going through difficult situations. Strong organizational skills for event planning and coordination. Conflict management skills to address conflicts within the students. Ability to work collaboratively with other staff members and volunteers. A deep and growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ. 2+ years’ experience in Student Ministry or a related field. A Bachelor’s degree in a related field (divinity, theology, Christian education, etc.) is preferred. Have education, or be open to continuing one’s education, in psychology and childhood development. The Student Pastor is a salary-exempt position with the expectation that regular office hours will be kept. This is a full-time position and may work extended hours, evenings, over weekends and public holidays, and on short notice. As a member of the Ministry Team, he/she is supervised by the Senior Pastor and shall become a member of Richmond Hill First Baptist Church. Note:
