Evangelical Free Church of America (EFCA)Felton Bible Church’s senior pastor is a member of the FBC Council of Elders and also the church’s lead staff person. The term “senior” pertains to his role within the church staff, and not to a positionally superior position within the eldership. The following items in this document basically describe the senior pastor’s role without comprehensively defining the position.
Shepherding Activities: 1. Shepherd FBC as part of the elder team consistent with “Felton Bible Church: An Elder-Led Congregation for the Glory of King Jesus” (Please find this document on the FBC website – https://www.feltonbiblechurch.org/elders-and-staff). 2. Preach and teach the Bible for the FBC congregation and those who join the church in worship. 3. Bear primary oversight responsibility for FBC’s teaching ministry in all its expressions. 4. Bear primary oversight responsibility for the conduct (in all parts) of FBC’s worship services, to include administration of baptism and the Lord’s Supper. 5. Provide general pastoral care and nurture, to include pastoral counseling when needed and occasional visitation. 6. Seek to train up and develop other men in the congregation toward the ministries of eldership, preaching, and teaching.
Staff Duties: 1. Oversee and lead the FBC staff (when other staff positions exist) on behalf of the Council of Elders. 2. Undertake administrative duties, as needed, consistent with his shepherding responsibilities and his staff leadership role. 3. Represent FBC to the Evangelical Free Church of America (EFCA) and other external entities. 4. Formulate necessary church policy for consideration and approval by the Council of Elders. 5. As appropriate, establish cooperative and collaborative relationships with other likeminded pastors, churches, and ministry organizations.
