We are seeking a full-time pastor. We are open to a part-time pastor or lay minister as well. We encourage all interested parties to contact us for more information, to visit, or to apply.

The ideal applicant loves the Lord and has the heart of a teacher. They will prepare Sunday sermons and lead worship. We expect some sort of office hours to be kept at the church and you to visit members of the congregation that can’t make it to church. An elder usually visits with you. The pastor is expected to attend monthly consistory meetings, currently held on Tuesday evenings. As a small church, we don’t have many weddings or funerals, but we would expect you to officiate those that we do have. You will also teach confirmation. If you are interested, you can lead a Sunday school class. Most recently, they have been led by church members. Currently Sunday service is at 10 AM.

In exchange for the above, we offer a nice salary that we can discuss if you are interested. It will make your move worth it. Plus, see below for all we have to offer. In addition to the above, our dream candidate would also be extroverted and interested in growing the church and investigating ways to increase membership so that St. Peter’s is here for the next generation.

About St. Peter’s Church: We are one of four churches in New Bremen. Our beautiful brick church was built in 1845. We have maintained the building and have made several updates over the last few years. It is a traditional church with steps out front, but we do have an elevator and ground-level entrance. We are a small conservative Bible-believing church. We were most recently affiliated with the Conservative Congregational Christian Conference (CCCC). We are now non-denominational. We serve communion the first Sunday of the month. We believe the Bible is the word of God and doesn’t change with the culture. We believe marriage is between a man and a woman and there are only two genders, male and female. Our church baptizes babies at birth and holds confirmation when they are older. Our other church staff includes two organists and a janitor. We sing traditional hymns that are accompanied by organ. Men and women serve equally as elders and deacons on the consistory. We are open to adding a praise song during worship, but do not want to do away with the organ or hymns. We have a Facebook page (Facebook) and we were posting sermons on Facebook and YouTube regularly with our most recent pastor. Our church website is St Peter’s Church New Bremen.

About New Bremen: Our village of about 3,000 people is located in western Ohio in Auglaize County. It is a real-life utopia filled with conservative Christian families and well-maintained houses and yards. New Bremen has a large nativity at Christmas time on Lock One in the center of town. Likewise, the neighboring town of Minster has a large nativity in their town square. The Miami-Erie Canal runs through town and provides a hiking and biking path that stretches almost 40 miles from Delphos to Fort Loramie. We are also close to Grand Lake and Lake Loramie, which offer campgrounds and other outdoor recreation. This area of Ohio offers festivals every weekend all summer long. New Bremen has Bremenfest in August and Pumpkinfest in September. The Auglaize, Mercer, and Darke County Fairs are also main attractions. We have summer concerts every other Sunday evening under the Crown Pavillion. We are a very family-friendly area. Our school, and other local schools, rank high in Ohio. New Bremen’s elementary school ranks in the top 2% (36/1,577) of schools in Ohio. The high school is in the top 4% (52/1,407). Local football teams also consistently perform well. Our football team won state in 2020 and 2022. Our volleyball team won state in 2017, 2019, 2022, and 2023. We have a very active local chapter of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA). Many residents go away to college and then return when they start their families. We have the best of both worlds because we are a short drive away from several cities. Fort Wayne, IN is 1½ hours away, Columbus is 1½ hours away, and Cincinnati and Toledo are 2 hours away. All four cities have excellent zoos and other things to do and see.
