Non-DenominationalThe Pastor for Discipleship and Family shall oversee discipleship programs, men’s and women’s ministries, and family-equipping ministries (i.e., parenting, grandparenting, marriage enrichment, etc.).
Development and Encouragement of Family and Discipleship Ministries 1 In close coordination with the other pastoral staff, recruit and train leaders and encourage development of various programs and ministries aimed at equipping and discipling men and women to fulfill their God-ordained roles within the church and the family. 2 Serve as a pastoral mentor; provide guidance, accountability, and encouragement to those leaders. 3 Develop and maintain discipleship policies in concert with his council and the General Council of Elders. 4 Oversee men’s ministry programs and events.
Working Relationships: 1 The Pastor for Discipleship and Family is an Elder and a member of the Pastoral Staff. He is accountable to the General Council of Elders. 2 As a member of the staff, the Pastor of Discipleship and Family will report to the Pastor of Ministries and the entire ministry will be accountable to the General Council of Elders. 3 The Pastor for Discipleship and Family is responsible for providing pastoral supervision to the Director of Women’s Ministry.
Supervision of Ministry Personnel and Communications 1 Coordinate the council overseeing Discipleship and Family. Regularly report to the General Council of Elders and Pastoral Staff regarding goals and growth in the Discipleship and Families ministries. 2 Keep functions of those ministries in agreement with all church policies, goals, and schedules and well-coordinated with each other. 3 Be a focal point for communication between leaders of those ministries and key leaders of other church ministries. 4 Work closely with leaders in all areas of ministries to ensure that we are providing the necessary quality of leadership training. 5 Coordinate closely with the other ministry leaders in areas where their ministries overlap. 6 Supervise assistants, interns, and volunteers as required to carry out his ministry. 7 Oversee development and execution of the budget for all discipleship and family ministries.
Qualified candidates must … 1. Be gifted in leadership and teaching. 2. Have demonstrated effectiveness in pastoral ministry and discipleship. 3. Be able to manage, motivate, shepherd, train, and encourage a team of leaders. 4. Be able to articulate the vision and philosophy of ministry. 5. Meet the qualifications of an Elder as laid out by Immanuel Bible Church* 6. Have required education: Minimum of a bachelors degree; Bible college or formal theological / seminary degree preferred.** 7. Be in full agreement with and able to articulate and defend the teaching and doctrine of IBC. 8. Complete requirements for membership at IBC upon accepting the position. *Applicants who meet the qualifications for the position but are not prepared to serve as elders of Immanuel Bible Church may still apply for this position to serve as a lay director. **Seminary graduates with an MDiv degree are preferred. Current seminary students may still apply for the position.

Ability to administer a large ministry with multiple volunteers. 4. Strong written and oral communication skills. 5. An ability to think strategically and provide direction. 6. Ability to manage self and achieve individual ministry milestones. 7. Shepherding.
