Non-DenominationalJob Description: Cross Timbers Bible Church (CTBC) is a small church with a dedicated congregation that strives for the glory of God in all things. We are seeking a motivated pastor to lead and grow our church (approx. size 40-50). The pastor shall be the primary Teaching Elder responsible for the public preaching ministry of the church and be missionally oriented with a heart for discipleship and church planting.
Key Responsibilities: • Regularly and systematically provide expositional development of the Scriptures for the worship services of the church and other occasions • Deliver relevant sermons grounded in sound biblical and hermeneutical principles, applying those principles to contemporary issues for the spiritual development/discipleship of the CTBC family • Apply the truth of Scripture in meaningful ways and provide clear motivation and encouragement in every area of life; ability to deliver sermons that challenge and inspire new and mature Christians and encourage believers to engage the culture with a biblical worldview • Create and execute a vision and strategic plan for church health and development and provide leadership, oversight, vision, and ministry direction to the church in collaboration with the Board of Elders of CTBC • Build relationships with the church by encouraging and participating in church-wide functions and connect with the community and its leaders where appropriate for outreach and engagement • Coordinate and consult with the Elder Board regarding management of church staff and operations • Utilize common on-line platforms for communication and increased opportunities that can be gained with proper social media use Doctrinal Distinctives • Uphold faith commitments that reflect the biblical qualifications of the office and agree with the doctrinal statement, ministry positions, and core values of CTBC • Believes in the pretribulational and premillennial return of Christ for His Church • Practices the Great Commission and Great Commandment model of ministry utilizing a discipleship approach • Be gracious to those of different theological and ecclesiastical backgrounds • Ministry practice aligns with modified/moderate Calvinism (evangelical Amyraldianism) and is grace-based in its application and not grounded in theories of Lordship Salvation, Reformed Theonomy, or a Charismatic understanding of spiritual gifts.
Personal Qualifications: • A man of devotion, worship, and prayer and an example to fellow leaders and the flock of God; thoughtful and wise in his personal and leadership development and whose care for the spiritual well-being of the congregation is characterized by love and humility while being strengthened by discernment and prayer • Attentive shepherd of the flock seeking to honor God in every category of his life and able to provide spiritual direction and growth to the congregation with gracious and conservative viewpoints • A good steward of his spiritual gifting, his family, his resources, and his church.
Church and Community Profile: CTBC is a Bible-based, independent church located in Weatherford, TX. With a population of 32,000, Weatherford is centrally located in Parker County, one of the top ten fastest growing counties in Texas. Our congregation is small yet committed with a loving spirit. We are looking to grow with a motivated leader who can guide us in our next season of ministry and capitalize on the high growth potential in our area.
