Non-DenominationalPersonal Qualifications—The Lead Pastor will: • Be an adaptable, adventuresome, and emotionally resilient follower of Jesus Christ, able to adjust to immersion in another culture. • Fulfill the biblical qualifications for an Elder. • Testify to his love for the Lord and call to pastoral ministry. • Have a deep passion for understanding and teaching the truths of God’s Word. • Love people, both in the church and in the community, and be able to create and sustain positive relationships with them. • Fueled by a desire to reach the lost, he will enthusiastically support the mission of the local church to make fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ.
Professional Competencies: The Lead Pastor will be gifted: • As an expository preacher, able to craft and deliver biblical sermons that effectively speak to both believers (new and maturing) and nonbelievers. • As a shepherd who lovingly provides for the spiritual well-being of the congregation with timely pastoral care and spiritual direction. • As a collaborative leader, able to walk with the Elders as together they guide the congregation into an exciting new season of ministry.
Primary Responsibilities: • Preaching—the Lead Pastor is responsible for preaching and will develop sermons through the literal-grammatical-historical method of interpretation. • Sunday Services—the Lead Pastor is responsible for the Sunday services but will be supported by a dedicated group of volunteers. • Congregational Life—the Lead Pastor will support the ministries of the congregation which take place between Sunday Services. • Elder—the Lead Pastor will support the team of Elders as together they provide leadership for the congregation. • Shepherd the Flock—the Lead Pastor will provide timely pastoral care and spiritual direction for those who consider or are considering Northwest Bible Church as their church home. • Outreach – The Lead Pastor will craft and lead a vision for outreach in the community.
Expectations: The Lead Pastor will: • Have earned a master’s degree in biblical studies or a related field. • Have a minimum of three years of experience serving the local church, ideally in church development. • Affirm the Tier 1 Beliefs and Tier 2 distinctives of Northwest Bible Church. • Be willing to make a long-term commitment. • Affirm a traditional view of gender, marriage, and human sexuality.
Supervisory Relationships: The Lead Pastor reports to and is accountable to the Elders.
