The pastor of Fairhaven Community Church will serve as the leading shepherd-teacher of the church. As the main ministerial staff member, the pastor will work closely with the Elders in the care and oversight of the flock with duties that may include, but not be limited to: preaching the Gospel, teaching the Word of God, administering the ordinances, engaging in visitation, training and equipping workers, guarding the doctrine and morals of the church, and exercising discipline. The successful candidate will have seminary, or Bible college training, the spiritual gift of pastor-teacher, basic administrative abilities, an understanding of ministry in a rural setting, and the ability to work with and train lay leaders in the shared work of the ministry.

He will meet the qualifications of an Elder as listed in I Timothy 3 and Titus 1. His character must be above reproach; his wife must be a believer and share in his commitment to ministry. Furthermore, the pastor must affirm and support the church’s Purpose and Statement of Faith, as stated in the church’s constitution. We as a church are very optimistic about the future and we believe that the Holy Spirit is already working in our midst preparing us. We are not searching for a pastor looking to do ministry in a country club separate from the world. We’re searching for a pastor that is ready and able to train people to minister more themselves. Ephesians 4 says Jesus gave pastors and teachers (and many others) “to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.” We are searching for a pastor that really believes this and will work with the elders to equip and train our church to better minister together – both within and outside the church.

Thank you for taking an interest in our church. We’ve had one of our members complete an MDiv at Trinity. We’re searching for someone that shares similar theological values found at Trinity. If you’d like more information or have questions please email Mark the search committee chair. Please attach resumes with your email. Our volunteer committee meets every few weeks so please give us time to respond.
