Overview: The Children’s Discipleship Director provides leadership for children’s ministry; including Sunday morning, Wednesday evening, and other special events; ensuring they are aligned with the mission, vision, values, and strategies of Village Church.

Job Responsibilities and Duties: • Attend weekly ministry meetings. • Select, maintain, and edit curriculum. • Communicate with volunteers and parents (weekly touchpoint with teachers and shepherds, promote events and programs, communicate regularly with families). • Work with Children’s Discipleship Coordinator to recruit, equip, and care for the children’s ministry leaders and volunteers. • Provide volunteer trainings and stay current on best practices. • Build structures and events to assist parents in the discipleship of their children. • Welcome new families to Village Church and the children’s ministry. • Work alongside pastoral staff for baby dedications, preparation of kids for communion, baptisms. • Work cooperatively with the Early Learning Village Director (preschool) and other ministries to coordinate facilities and resources. • Oversee safety/operations issues regarding children’s ministries. • Manage children’s ministry budget and financial accounts.

Job Skills and Requirements • Evidence of a vibrant and mature relationship with Jesus Christ, exhibits exemplary Christian character. • Holds to a ministry philosophy compatible with the mission, vision, values, and strategy of Village Church, including the Statement of Faith. • Fully engage in the Village Church community as a member. • Heart to work with children and commitment to advance the gospel. • Exercise discretion and good judgment in personal contacts and communication. • Ability to give leadership, direction, and vision to develop necessary ministries; ability to build ministry teams to give corporate leadership in these areas. • Strong interpersonal communication skills; ability to recruit others to help accomplish a vision. • Competent administrative and organizational skills; Strong problem and conflict resolution skills. • Ability to evaluate children’s curriculum; strong ability to help guide the leadership team in providing a balanced spiritual diet with children while incorporating innovative ideas to keep the children actively engaged. • Academic degree appropriate to the duties outlined preferred; experience in children’s ministries preferred: consideration given to equivalent combination and experience.
