Dr. Susan Corapi’s specialty are the literacy classes in the Division of Education. Her work is influenced by the years she spent teaching K-12 students in public and private schools, her experience as a youth services librarian in a public library, the networking she did to generate community support for literacy development, and the international perspectives she gained while living in four countries on three continents. Her research interests center around the use of global children’s and adolescent literature to support the development of intercultural competence. She is also interested in teacher study groups as a form of professional development.

Dr. Corapi’s favorite way to spend time is with her family (husband of 40+ years, 4 sons, 3 daughters-in-law, and 7 amazing grandchildren). She is also a passionate reader, so on afternoons off, she heads to her personal library or the public library to feast on the new children’s and adolescent literature just published, old favorites she wants to re-savor, and books and articles that challenge her professionally and spiritually. On vacations, she reads even more books, goes on road trips with her husband and sews quilts for her family.
