Dr. Pecoraro is interested in biochemistry, particularly enzyme kinetics and enzymology of metabolic pathways, and environmental science, specifically the chemical analysis of anions and cations in natural water streams and rivers. For her undergraduate research she studied enzymology of blue copper proteins, and for her graduate studies she examined how cells’ mitochondria use cytochrome oxidase to generate energy. Dr. Pecoraro has a theological background and enjoys doing research on how science supports the authority and inerrancy of Scripture. Her emphasis on science and faith integration extends to her classroom; she has taught a wide range of biology and chemistry courses.
