Job Description

Zion Evangelical Church is seeking a full-time pastor. We prefer an experienced pastor, although we would certainly consider a recent seminary graduate with the qualities that would meet our congregations needs.

The rural conservative church founded in 1836, rich with heritage, serves an agricultural community located outside of Shelbyville, Indiana, a 30-minute drive southeast of Indianapolis, IN. We are a member of the Evangelical Association but was formerly a member of UCC.

We believe the Bible as the inspired, inerrant Word of God, that salvation is through Jesus, that evangelism is spreading the Good News of Jesus and God’s grace and mercy through Him and reaching out to others through missions. We observe two sacraments – Baptism (not age profiled) and Holy Communion. We have intergenerational worship weekly, which is shared online. We also have a monthly church newsletter, an adult Bible Study, Sunday School classes, Youth Fellowship, Zion Hammers, Bread & Blessing food ministry, Laundry Love and a Women’s Guild. All are active within our church. We also support other missions within our community.

We are a smaller congregation seeking a pastor who:
● Has a Biblical perspective.
o Preaches the Word of God.
o Has inspiring and challenging sermons that relate to daily life.
● Is a seminary/Bible college graduate willing to be affirmed by EA.
● Who can work beside us to attract and retain new members.
● Makes pastoral calls at hospitals, nursing homes and homes.
● Works effectively with people of all ages.
● Must pass a background check.

If you believe God may be calling you for this position, please email your resume to [email protected] and we will forward our church profile. We offer a comprehensive salary and benefit packet. Included in the package is a 3-bedroom parsonage. Please visit our Facebook page (Zion Evangelical Church) to read more about us.
