Job Description

The Pastor of Youth and Discipleship is passionately responsible for leading Valleybrook’s Imitate Youth (grades 6-12) ministry and overseeing a successful church wide small groups/one-on-one discipleship ministry.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
● Pastor of Youth (50%)
o Develop, implement, and lead a comprehensive approach to youth ministry (grades 6-12), that reaches, equips, and invests in youth at Valleybrook.
o Plan, coordinate, and execute all events for weekly Youth Nights that create spiritual growth moments for youth, including but not limited to retreats, conferences, outreach, events, missions, as well as student leadership and
community activities.
o Prepare and present teachings for Imitate Youth and any other necessary experiences through the study of the Bible and related ministry resources.
o Recruit and train a team of Youth Leaders in their areas of giftedness and competence to advance the mission of the Imitate Youth, with the mentality that we are better together.
o Advocate, educate, and communicate the needs of the youth to the local church and community.
o Organize and oversee the Imitate Youth budget.
o Work with VB Kid’s Director to create Parent Equip events and workshops.
● Pastor of Groups/Discipleship (50%)
o Develop and lead Valleybrook’s discipleship processes, including overseeing the Small Group ministry, Support Groups, and One-on-One Discipleship Ministry.
o Recruit, vet, train, and pastor Small Group leaders and One-on-One Disciplers.
o Oversee the transition of short-term Small Groups to long-term Small Groups.
o Work with Lead Pastor to further develop an already growing One-on-One Discipleship ministry.
o Review and approve Small Group materials, with the help of the Elders.
o Organize and oversee the Small Groups and Discipleship budget.
● As needed
o Preach routinely on Sunday mornings (2-4 times a year).
o Pastoral care to youth, families, and those in need within the ministry.

QUALIFICATIONS
● A love for Jesus Christ and desire to faithfully follow Him.
● A heart to partner with parents and support them as the primary disciple makers of their children.
● A desire to see youth experience the love of Jesus.
● Able to work independently, be self-directed, self-motivated, and be creative.
● Attention to detail.
● Team player and relates well to all kinds of people, builds effective relationships.
● Commitment to improvement and seeks constructive criticism.

● Previous Ministry experience is a must.
● Ministry degree strongly recommended, not required.

● Regularly attend worship gatherings, regularly contribute financially to Valleybrook.
● Practice moral and financial integrity in the discharge of Youth & Small Groups ministry.
● Consistently pursue community intergenerationally.
● Agree with staff code of conduct and employee handbook.
● Background check is required.
● Subject to annual reviews.
● Attends weekly staff meetings.
