Job Description

SUMMARY

The purpose of the Residency is to equip the resident in various ministries and serve the body of Pennington Park Church. This will be accomplished through intentional development personally, theologically, and ministerially through mentoring, hands-on ministry experience, and leadership responsibility. This Family Ministries Resident will primarily serve in student ministries while secondarily serving in children’s ministry. This individual is expected to work at least 40 hours per week and will report directly to the Associate Pastor of Student Ministries.

  • Bachelor’s degree required

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 70% Student Ministry and 30% Children’s Ministry

  • Assist the Associate Pastor of Student Ministries
    1. Plan and organize events and regular programming in student ministries
    2. Assist the Associate Pastor of Student Ministry to execute weekly programming and events with organization, logistics, and overseeing the details
    3. Help recruit, train, and develop adult and student leaders
    4. Provide on-going and regular support to the leaders
    5. Work alongside the Associate Pastor of Student Ministries to equip and support parents
    6. On occasion and if desired, teach at the student ministry gather
    7. Be willing to lead a small group of students
    8. Engage in regular discipleship of students
    9. Participate in regular relationship building with students
  • Assist the Children’s Ministry Director
    1. Assist the children’s ministry with key events such as Backyard Bible Clubs
    2. As needed, serve in children’s ministry on Sunday mornings
    3. Become knowledgeable of the children’s ministry (curriculum Gospel Project, structure and programming of children’s ministry, recruiting and training process of volunteers and leaders, etc.
    4. Help organize supplies as needed
  • Participate in the Resident Development Plan
    1. Attend and participate in assigned meetings such as one on one meetings with the Associate Pastor of Student Ministries, children’s ministry team meetings, staff meetings, spiritual development meetings, etc.
    2. Read and engage with all assigned reading as part of the development plan
    3. Meet regularly with supervisor for mentoring, feedback, growth opportunities, etc.
    4. Receive two formal evaluations per year
    5. Willing to accomplish all tasks assigned that may or may not fit this specific job description

ANTICIPATED TIME COMMITMENTS AND COMPENSATION

  • A minimum of 40-50 hours per week
  • Anticipate working some evenings and weekends
  • Full-time, salaried position with benefits
