Associate Pastor Position Overview
Oglesby Union Church in Oglesby, Illinois, is seeking an Associate Pastor called by God to serve as a spiritual leader of the congregation. The Associate Pastor is responsible to the church to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ, to teach the Bible, to provide Christian leadership and to assist in the pastoral care of the congregation. The Associate Pastor is responsible for promoting the spiritual interest and growth of the church.
I. Role
The Associate Pastor’s primary role shall be to assist the Senior Pastor and Overseers in the task of nurturing, training, and teaching the congregation with the emphasis on children and youth. He is to help them develop their gifts and grow as followers of the Lord Jesus Christ.
II. Requirements
Education
● A degree in Biblical Studies or a Seminary Degree is preferred.
Qualifications
The Associate Pastor:
● Shall meet the New Testament requirements for office as listed in 1Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:6-9.
● Must be a Man of Prayer, Good Faith, Divinely called to Ministry and Godly in Character.
● Shall have a vision for church growth.
● Assist with the Pastor with pastoral counseling.
● Shall maintain regular and disciplined personal worship, Bible study and prayer.
● Demonstrate leadership and communication skills.
● Be accessible and sensitive to the needs of all demographics within the congregation Expertise
● Is an example of both being a Christ-like disciple and developing disciples of Christ.
● Has a passion for teaching the Bible and equipping the saints for ministry.
● Demonstrates the heart of a servant.
● Works with others in team situations
● Has the flexibility and perseverance to adapt and rise-above the circumstances as needed.
III. Responsibilities
Work with the Senior Pastor and the Overseer Board to:
● Communicate and help implement the vision, goals and objectives with the church body.
● Plan and lead inspiring worship services and events by spending significant time in preparation (Bible study and prayer).
● Encourage all believers to develop as disciples of Jesus Christ, including baptism by immersion, church membership, the Christian disciplines and Biblical stewardship.
● Preserve and promote the unity of the body, through oversight of the church discipline and management of conflict in the church, always seeking to be an instrument of reconciliation between offended persons.
● Engage in intercessory prayer on behalf of the congregation and community.
● Share in the pastoral care of the congregation along with the Overseers and members of the congregation.
● Represent Christ to the Illinois Valley Community through encouraging Oglesby Union Church outreach ministries.
● Foster relationships with pastors and youth leaders in the Illinois Valley.
IV. Relationships (Accountable to and Responsible for)
● Upon acceptance of a call, he will become a member of Oglesby Union Church and the Overseer board.
● He shall be accountable to God, through the Sr. Pastor and Overseers, for the mutually agreed-upon responsibilities of ministry and in accordance with the church constitution.
o He will report to the Sr. Pastor and Overseers at each regular meeting.
o He will be available to report to the congregation at each member’s meeting.

● Staff consists of the senior pastor, the associate pastor, the administrative assistant, and the custodian.

The Compensation:
● A financial package will be provided by Oglesby Union Church’s financial team which will depend upon the candidate’s education, age, experience, etc. It is expected to be between $60,000 and $70,000.
