The Associate Pastor works with the other pastors to move forward Monroe Bible Church’s mission of making disciples and vision of building families who join Christ to transform communities. Areas of focus will be worked out between the pastors under the direction of the senior pastor according to giftings, experiences, and passions of the pastors. The candidate will be part of the preaching and teaching team and give leadership to some ministries. Some other areas may include discipleship, outreach, men’s ministry, and life groups.
Qualifications: The character qualifications for Elders in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1 are essential. The candidate must agree with the EFCA’s 2019 statement of faith and MBC’s addendum articles (available at https://www.monroebiblechurch.org/hp_wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/Constitution-Bylaws-Statement-of-Faith-07.24.22.pdf ). He must hold a strong sense of his calling into pastoral ministry. The candidate’s humility and overflowing love for Christ must be confirmed in his character references. A strong commitment to the family, the local church, and team ministry are also expected.
Experience: Preferably the candidate will have five years of ministry experience in pastoral ministry.
Skills: Primary skills include preaching and teaching, leadership, and shepherding. The candidate must relate well to people, be approachable, and have an ability to motivate people and foster healthy relationships between people. An ability to speak Spanish is a plus but not necessary.
Education: A Bachelor’s degree in a ministry field is preferred.
