I. Job Description – Student Ministry Director – We are looking for the right candidate who has a passion and calling for making Christ known to students by equipping, encouraging, and empowering them in their life journey of imitating Christ. Likewise, helping to equip, encourage and empower parents to be the primary spiritual life models/teachers of their student and to help equip, encourage and empower adult leadership to be a part of a student’s journey. Emphasis on building strong relationships with both students and parents is essential. The candidate will be committed to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and the authority of Scripture. And will possess the administrative organizational and communication skills necessary to perform their duties and carry out details, as well as the interpersonal, relational skills for working with young people and adults within the church and the community.
Function of Job: To help with development and oversight of the junior high and senior high youth ministries with the goal of our youth becoming devoted followers of Jesus Christ. Reports to: Family Pastor.
Qualifications and Position Requirements: ● One who exhibits a personal and growing relationship with God, a teachable spirit, and a servant’s heart. ● A college degree, or in process is preferred. ● A personal spiritual life congruent with biblical mandates for leaders. (1 Timothy 3:1-7). ● One who is capable of helping to create and execute a long-term vision for LRC Youth Ministry. ● One who is called to and passionate about youth ministry, loves young people, and has a passion for evangelism and outreach, both personally and at the ministry level. ● An engaging teacher, with a strong Biblical and theological background. Able to teach the Bible and foundations of the Christian faith and be willing to seek further education and skills as necessary. ● Agree with the LRC statement of faith, mission and core values.. ● A self-motivated leader, capable of casting and imparting vision for ministry, possessing relational skills with students, parents, and staff. ● Possess the ability to teach/model how Scripture informs our lives and how we live. ● Strong communication skills and the ability to work well with church staff and volunteers. ● Must pass a background check. ● Experience in student ministry preferred.
Job Description and Responsibilities – Youth Leader (High School/Middle School) ● Maintain a healthy balance of personal spiritual formation, self-care, and ministry. ● Recruit, – Identify, train, inspire and lead a team of committed high school volunteer student leaders for the High School ministry. ● Oversee volunteer certification (qualifications, background check, membership, etc.) ● Meet with volunteer leaders to support, encourage, and disciple them to have a positive impact on the students. ● Be personally involved in informal hang out times with the students. ● Meet individually/mentor students in the ministry (not just leaders). ● Work with Family Pastor in crisis situations. ● Tasks related to youth room development and on-going maintenance/improvement. ● Personal development and connecting to best practices in youth/family integration ministries. Pursue training if needed; attend conferences regularly that support our direction. ● Coordinate shepherding needs of the student who are without parental involvement. ● Oversee teaching schedule for High School ministry. ● Contact and work with parents who do not attend LRC when needed. ● Work to integrate parents appropriately into the life of the ministry. ● Must be willing to delegate as much responsibility as possible, empowering parents, volunteers and students to help create the community and set the climate alongside the Families Ministry Pastor and Youth Ministry Parent Team. ● Work collaboratively with the Family Pastor, Elders, other ministry leaders, parents ,and volunteers. ● Equipping and leading the youth to reach out to other youth who are unchurched. ● Leading the youth to develop a Christian worldview and to recognize the influence that secular culture has on their lives. ● Preparing objectives, goals, strategies and measurements for the youth program, and to get them approved by the Pastor. ● Planning and coordinating special events, service projects, and possible mission trips. ● Meet and report regularly to the Family Ministry Pastor, including a summary of activities from the previous month, upcoming plans for future months and any issues that need to be resolved. ● Participating in the local network of youth group leaders from other churches to receive encouragement, gain exposure to other teaching ideas, provide support to others and grow spiritually.
