Overview
The church is an English-speaking reformed Baptist church with a Southern Baptist worship style and is a member of the National Baptist Convention of Mexico. Lake Chapala Baptist Church consists primarily of US and Canadian retiree expatriates and Mexican citizens. We have for over 15 years helped to enable an allied, but separate Spanish speaking congregation within our facility with their own pastor. In addition, there are various outreach programs in the local communities. We own our property including land, church sanctuary, attached fellowship hall, classrooms, and parsonage.
The church is 55 km (35 miles) and 1 hour driving time from the center of Guadalajara, Mexico’s 2nd largest city. The church is only 38 km (24 miles) and 40 minutes from the Miguel Hidalgo International Airport, Guadalajara’s metropolitan airport with direct flights to more than 30 US cities and connecting flights to dozens of other US cities. We are located in the foothills of west-central highlands of the Sierra Madre mountains of southwestern Mexico and in a valley with an elevation of over 5,000 feet above sea level. According to National Geographic, Lake Chapala has the second-best climate in the world. With the protective mountains surrounding the lake, a semi-tropical micro-climate is created that averages 75 0F or 24 0C year-round. The municipality (similar to a US county) of Chapala is growing, vibrant town and surroundings with a combined population of approximately 55,000.
