Job Description

As a community of believers committed to following Jesus by growing Jesus-followers, we are actively seeking a Lead Pastor to guide us through this next season of spiritual growth and community engagement. We are looking for a Lead Pastor who will anchor us in biblical truth, nurture our faith, and help cast a vision for our future.

1. Key Responsibilities:
* Corporate Worship & Teaching: Lead Sunday morning worship services, with an emphasis on expositional preaching. While the primary focus is on thought-by-thought, expository Bible teaching, we also value occasional topical sermons and series. Through various avenues – including sermons, classes, and seminars – the Lead Pastor will offer practical instruction that applies God’s Word to all of life.
* Disciple-Making & Leadership Development: Drive a culture of disciples-making-disciples, where the passions and gifts of each member of KBC are cultivated and used for the benefit of the body. Lead in leadership development within the church, fostering growth in current and potential ministry leaders.
* Community Outreach: Guide the congregation in engaging our local community with the gospel, both through individual impact and collective initiatives.
* Children and Youth Ministries: Shepherd leaders of our children and youth programs, recognizing their pivotal role within the congregation.
* Counseling: Provide personal spiritual counsel to individuals, mentor other counseling leaders, and collaborate with external counseling professionals when necessary.
* Church Life: Perform or oversee regular functions of church life, including premarital counseling, weddings, funerals, and visitation, and use these opportunities to invest in emerging church leaders.

2. Qualifications:
* Educational: An MDiv degree from an accredited seminary is preferred.
* Experience: A proven track record of effective ministry leadership and expositional preaching.
* Character: Align with the qualifications for Elders set out in the Bible (specifically 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9) and as detailed in the Kishwaukee Bible Church constitution.

Personal Traits: We seek a Pastor who is a man of practical faith, leads relationally, can cast a compelling vision, is able to develop and empower others, engages the community around him, and is ready to lead a team of others in that work.

3. Leadership Dynamics: The next full-time Lead Pastor of KBC will function as an elder, sharing equal authority and responsibility with our lay elders. He will work closely with a diverse elder team and coordinate with various ministry heads, Bible study leaders, and the volunteer worship team.
