Job Description

Meet Hope Bible Church:

Hope Bible Church is a part of the Great Commission Collective, an international family of churches and strategic partners that exist to glorify God by planting, strengthening, and multiplying great commission churches around the world.

Hope Bible Church was founded in 2018 by Pastor Bill Borinstein and his wife Pam, along with four other families. They initially rented another church facility on Sunday afternoons, and then were blessed to be able to purchase its own church campus in late 2019. Hope had a brief interruption due to Covid-19 in the 2nd quarter of 2020 but has grown to 400-500 congregants every week in 2023.

About the Worship Pastor:

We’re looking for a musically gifted, spiritually mature, biblically grounded Christian to lead all worship ministries at Hope Bible Church under the direction of the Senior Pastor. The ideal candidate has experience leading worship at similar-sized or larger churches and in building and leading teams and training musicians at various skill levels, while also pastoring and caring for their souls. He should have a high sense of ownership, always ensuring that all essential tasks and duties related to this role are executed. He will also give leadership to the AVL/Production team and should have an aptitude to help troubleshoot when necessary.

The Worship Pastor sees his role as a ministry within the ministry and reports to the Senior Pastor for overall direction, time management, and assignments.

The Worship Pastor’s Responsibilities Include:

Essential Duties

Shepherd the church through the music ministry with an emphasis on spiritual quality before performance quality.

Shepherd, train, manage, and care for the volunteer worship teams. That includes but is not limited to mid-week rehearsals, attending conferences, spending one-on-one time with team members etc.

Recruit and give leadership to the AVL/Production team and should have an aptitude to help troubleshoot when necessary.

Establish a long-term vision for how the church can grow in glorifying God through music.

Work with the Senior Pastor to plan the worship services.

Lead the musical portion of worship services.

Lead all music ministries in the church.

Develop a process to regularly identify and deploy new volunteers in the church’s worship ministry.

Develop an annual worship ministry budget and be able to work within that budget.

Oversee the church’s Audio/Visual ministry.

Attend all church staff meetings and retreats.

Work with youth and children’s ministry leaders to find worship leaders for age-graded worship experiences within the church.

Oversee the maintenance of all musical instruments owned by the church.

Participate in general pastoral duties as needed (weddings, funerals, counseling, etc.).

Bachelor’s degree

Some formal training in music, preferred

5 years experience leading worship and 2 years being a Worship Pastor in a similar church setting.

Experience leading and managing teams.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities.

Strong ability to lead people of varying ethnicities, socio-economic levels, and generations.

Significant skill as a vocalist and instrumentalist.

Broad knowledge of Christian worship music across multiple styles and generational tastes.

Proficient in reading music.
