Job Description

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

We believe that ministry to children and teens in the church is supplemental to the family. The Associate Pastor will be the primary shepherd from cradle through college graduation and equip families in the Word of God and in daily apprenticeship to Jesus Christ. He will shepherd the people of God at Emmanuel Bible Fellowship Church and equip them for the work of the ministry, laboring to present this local body of believers as mature in Christ Jesus.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Associate Pastor shall be a man:

Having a clear testimony of Faith in Jesus Christ and maintaining a personal and growing relationship with Him.
Meeting the qualifications of Elder as outlined in 1 Timothy 3:1-12 and Titus 1:5-9 and possessing a heart committed to shepherd the flock as an overseer.
In agreement with the Articles of Faith of the Bible Fellowship Church.
Committed to gospel-centered teaching and discipleship of the families, youth, and children of the church.
Demonstrated to be a disciple-maker in sharing the gospel, teaching others to follow Jesus, and equipping them to make disciples also.
Cultivating and maintaining godly integrity and character in all relationships with others.
Who has at least five years of church ministry experience, specifically in working with children and/or youth, discipleship, and leadership development. Seminary training is preferred but not required.

The Associate Pastor shall have specific responsibility to:

Develop and lead an intentional strategy for making disciples of the children and youth of the church; and recruit, equip, and oversee a team of individuals who will execute this strategy.
Intentionally equip parents in the church to be effective at discipling their children in the home and provide regular workshops, newsletters, and communication to do so.
Take the lead in the assimilation of youth and college students, in coordination with the overall assimilation strategies developed by the Lead Pastor.
Lead or equip leaders for specific areas of ministry to the church, including but not limited to:
Coordinating the Youth Ministry, including Youth Sunday School and Youth Group, the development of teachers, setting and vetting materials taught, and long-term planning for teaching.
Coordinating the Children’s Ministry for Sunday School and AM Worship by developing teachers, setting and vetting materials taught, and developing long-term planning for teaching.
Coordinating a volunteer team to staff the nursery.
Developing and coordinating an intentional outreach strategy for the church and mobilizing members to live on mission through outreach activities and in their own personal contexts.

Be accountable to the Lead Pastor and committed to partnering with his vision for EBFC.

The pastor may be called upon to do more than what is written in this job description. But in doing so, he should maintain a healthy balance between his ministry here at the church, his personal walk with the Lord, and his family. The Associate Pastor of Family Ministries is a full-time paid position with a salary and benefits.
