Job Description

OVERVIEW
Edgewood Community Church (EFCA) in Waupun, WI is seeking an experienced, gospel-oriented Executive Pastor to faithfully partner with the Senior Pastor to shepherd the growth of this multi-site church.

THE BIG IDEA
Edgewood Community Church provides a unique and special opportunity for an Executive Pastor who enjoys a dynamic workplace. The Gospel is THE defining value of Edgewood with much of their growth coming from lives transformed by Christ. God is clearly on the move here and has organically grown this church into a multi-site community of 1,200 people over four campus locations. The values of “Gospel, Community and Mission” shapes and propels this ministry. They desire an Executive Pastor with a ministry background coupled with strong organizational capacity to help continue the positive trajectory of Edgewood for years to come. This position will “lead from the second chair,” working closely with the Senior Pastor and other key leaders to support visioning, strategic planning, implementation and alignment across the landscape of the church. This position will lead campus pastors and ministry staff with wisdom and grace to effectively execute operations and ministry pursuits. Ideally, the Executive Pastor will enjoy the opportunity to preach about 12 times per year. The energy is contagious and the commitment is high. Come be a part of what God is doing!

THE CHURCH
Edgewood is a vibrant and family-oriented multi-site church with four campuses distributed over a large area of central Wisconsin, from Waupun to Fond du Lac to Sheboygan and to Beaver Dam. The worship is contemporary and tailored to meet the needs of each location, with services offered at various times on Saturdays and Sundays. The church enjoys biblically-grounded expositional preaching from its long-tenured and personable pastor. They have a $2.1MM budget and a staff of 10 full-time and 20 part-time employees.

THE CANDIDATE
The ideal candidate for this role demonstrates the rare quality of servant-leadership. He is winsome and approachable with those he serves but also exhibits strength of leadership that inspires others to follow. He is a person of high character and willing to do the work of ministry in an active, dynamic and schedule-packed environment; he cares deeply about reaching others for Christ. He will bring a full range of skills useful for the effective execution of operational and ministry pursuits. The new Executive Pastor also will possess a confident, relatable and inspiring manner in the pulpit or when speaking before various groups. Most importantly, his public life as a leader must come from an overflow of his private life with Jesus.

THE LOCATION
While Waupun is best described as a small town (pop. 12,000), its close proximity to Milwaukee and Madison offers families the best of both worlds. The communities served by Edgewood are surrounded by lush countryside, bountiful lakes and friendly, authentic people who are down-to earth and modest. These communities have good schools and neighborhoods, many conveniences and easy access to activities such as major league baseball, excellent performing arts and the activities and interests of a Big 10 campus, which is just a little over an hour away. With a very affordable cost of living, this is a wonderful place to raise a family.

THE QUALIFICATIONS
Vibrant relationship with Jesus nurtured by a daily time with the Lord; spiritually mature and passionate to see the local church mobilized on mission; theologically aligned with the EFCA; supports the mission and values of Edgewood Community Church; theologically educated and trained (master’s degree preferred); willing to be ordained in the EFCA; minimum of five years of experience in pastoral leadership and in a multi-staff setting with leadership and oversight of paid staff; exceptional communication skills (including preaching, ideally); a clear call to lead from the second chair; emotionally intelligent; spiritual giftings in the areas of leadership, administration, teaching and pastoral shepherding.
