Job Description

We are a small-town, conservative Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Omak, Washington, seeking a solo full-time pastor. This position would entail the following responsibilities: preaching, teaching, counseling, visitation, pastoral care, and overall administration. A complete position description is available upon request. A little something about our area: Omak is located in the Okanogan Valley in north central Washington state approximately fifty miles south of the Canadian border. Our landscape is dotted with apple orchards, wheat fields, and other agriculture made possible in our otherwise dry climate by ample irrigation. The town sits on the Okanogan River and includes the adjacent Colville Indian Reservation. The agricultural industry several generations ago attracted workers from Mexico, resulting today in a Hispanic population in virtually every part of our community. Located in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains, our area is attractive to hunters and recreationists. We are thirty minutes from cross-country and downhill skiing, snowmobile trails and hiking and biking trails. In addition, lakes and rivers are nearby for fishing, boating, and camping. We have a beautiful Performing Arts Center that presents a musical play each year along with performances by the Okanogan Valley Orchestra and Choir. This community also enjoys high school sports, our famous Omak Stampede rodeo, and the county fair. The website https://cpcomak.org/what-we-believe covers our basic beliefs, as does the Evangelical Presbyterian Church Essentials document. Further clarification of our positions is
the following:

  • We teach a literal interpretation of the Bible.
  • We maintain a clear separation between the Church and Israel.
  • We believe the overall unifying principle of the Bible is the glory of God, which includes
    the supremacy of Christ.
  • We believe church members should seek Biblical guidance in how to deal with the social
    issues of our times.
  • We believe in maintaining a healthy environment where diverse thoughts may be discussed within a climate of mutual respect.
