About Church in the Valley Alhambra
We are a church of approximately 150, including families, college and graduate students, young professionals, and long-term community members. We are a diverse body that is welcoming to anyone seeking Jesus. We cooperate with the Southern Baptist Convention and the 17:6 Network of churches. Our Sunday morning gatherings are held in The Alhambra, an urban community of businesses and education. We are looking for a leader who brings out the best in others to come alongside us in living out our mission.

About Alhambra
Alhambra is a city located in the western San Gabriel Valley region of Los Angeles County, California, approximately eight miles from downtown Los Angeles. As of the 2020 census, the population was 82,868. Over half of Alhambra’s residents identify as Asian-American.
About the Role
The ideal Lead Pastor candidate possesses the following characteristics:
• A growing, thriving relationship with Jesus and a commitment to knowing and applying God’s Word
• Someone who is highly relational
• Deep trust and faith in God in practice and in words
• Experience in a 17:6 Network church or similar
• Experience in leading a church body to live out life as disciples of Jesus who make disciples of Jesus
• Is driven to understand cultural contexts in order to welcome and shepherd the diverse groups that make up the community
• Has a heart for college students and supporting local college ministries
• Willingness to lead and live in a culture of openness and honesty
• Self-awareness to identify and communicate strengths and limitations, and ask for help and delegate when needed
• Established habits of promoting spiritual, emotional, and organizational health
Main Responsibilities
• Serving as one of the elders and leading the church to effectively carry out its mission
• Discipling, training, and empowering leaders in growing a discipleship movement
• Continuing to build bridges for the gospel in our city and our region through partnership with local church leaders, city leaders, and campus ministry leaders
• Leading, coaching, and encouraging the staff team in fulfilling their responsibilities
• Leading the Teaching Team as well as preparing and preaching the majority of Sunday sermons
• Fulfilling ministerial responsibilities
• Partnering with 17:6 Network churches for encouragement, training, and ministry
Qualifications
• Commitment to a long-term pastorate
• 5+ years experience in church leadership at a staff level
• Strong, decisive leadership with developed organizational skills
• Effective oral and written communicator
• A bachelor’s degree is required (master’s degree preferred)
• Formal training in biblical scholarship from an accredited institution
Total compensation of $89,000 – $100,000 per year plus benefits. (Range depending on experience)
