The Music Ministry Coordinator’s primary responsibility is to coordinate and develop all music ministry in the church, with a particular focus on the Sunday morning gathering of the church and special services, and with the aim to assist God’s people to sing God’s praises.
The position of Music Coordinator provides an opportunity for someone of good Christian standing and integrity to work in a Christ-centered environment, assisting the Senior Minister and the pastoral team in their ministry.
Specifically, the Music Coordinator is a central administrative, musical, and leadership role that helps to assist the Pastor-Elders, Musicians, Singers and Administrators in their planning and visioning of the regular and special services at Christ Church NYC. The Music Coordinator, in close collaboration with the Senior Minister, chooses, plans, and executes the music for each service.
This ministry exists because we believe that God calls Christians to sing individually and communally. Therefore, the Music Ministry exists to help fulfill the mission of Christ Church NYC to make disciples of Jesus who make disciples of Jesus for the glory of God. Through the Music Ministry, we are attempting to glorify Christ by helping to guide people’s minds and stir the affections of their hearts in a God-exalting way, leading them to praise God (“glorifying God”) and remember who He is (“glorying in God”). When we are fully glorifying God and glorying in God, we are a natural witness to those around us, and we are naturally led to outward action and serving the city in “our worship, our life together, and our gospel mission” – the vision of Christ Church NYC.
