Chillicothe Bible Church, located in Chillicothe, Illinois is looking for a Senior Pastor. Chillicothe is a thriving town of 6,000 people located about 17 miles north of Peoria, Illinois, which has a metropolitan area with a population of 120,000.
SUMMARY: The Senior Pastor shall have the overall responsibility for the leadership and spiritual development of the church body and shall work closely with other individuals and teams in positions of leadership to accomplish ministry goals. He shall be accountable: first to God for the ultimate purpose, direction, and leadership of the congregation; and also, to the Council of Elders.
QUALIFICATIONS: The Senior Pastor shall be a man of established and true Christian character, sound in faith and doctrine, faithful and practiced in prayer, and qualified to preach and teach the Word of God (as described in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and 4:12-13; 2 Timothy 2:15 and Titus 1:5-9). He must also agree with the Statement of Faith of Chillicothe Bible Church and agree to support its Constitution and By-laws.
The Senior Pastor is preferred to have or be willing to complete a M-Div or have a master’s degree from an accredited seminary. Five years pastoral service or related job experience desired.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
PRAYER & WORSHIP
• Regular personal prayer time
• Lead times of corporate prayer as needed
• Planning and participating in corporate worship as primary preacher at worship services
• Administering the ordinances
TEACHING AND PREACHING GOD’S WORD
• Provide doctrinal guidance for the church through Biblical expository preaching
• Reading and studying for personal growth
• Preparation and presentation of lessons and sermons
• Equip and develop the spiritual gifts of the saints, to make reproducing disciples who make disciples
• Be open to additional teaching opportunities e.g. Sunday school class, small group, discipleship group as God might lead or at the request of the elder leadership team
LEADERSHIP
• Encourage discipleship in the congregation to reach the diverse population of the community
• Work with the elder council to identify, train and qualify potential leaders
• Mentor and continue to develop current elders
• Provide biblical guidance in problem-solving, church discipline situations and in responding to ministry opportunities
• Encourage and lead the church in fulfilling the Great Commission
COUNSELING

ADMINISTRATION
• Oversight for ministry staff and administrative support staff
• Oversight for selected ministry teams
OUTREACH AND DISCIPLESHIP
• Personal evangelism and follow-up

• Intentional investment into multiplication style discipleship by leading, teaching and mentoring others to become better disciples of Jesus
• Commitment to the Great Commission to reach all nations through missions
PASTORAL CARE
• Visit the sick and/or elderly, providing spiritual guidance, prayer, and comfort
• Conduct funerals
• Perform weddings
COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT
• Participate in the Chillicothe area ministerial (IVMA)
• Attend community events
• Participate in the EFCA local ministerial association
• Attend EFCA conferences and meetings as appropriate
